I am looking for a responsible animal and plant lover who will take care of our cat and the garden for 2-3 weeks in September 2010 (and/or maybe other times). We live in a thatched cottage at the edge of a village with a fantastic view over lake and woods in the middle of the heather covered dunes, unique to the NE Netherlands. A bit of plant watering is probably all that's needed, but mostly we just want to know that our cat is happy while we are away. The house is rustic and simply furnished but the view is lovely, especially if you like bird watching (plus a few deer and hares). There's one large living room and en-suite bedroom on the ground floor with 2 bedrooms upstairs. Small kitchen. Large garden which is really just part of the landscape. The university town of Groningen is 25 minutes drive away and narket town of Assen 10-15 mins. There's an hourly bus service to both. But if you like cycling we have bikes available. It's a popular area for walkers and cyclist who want peace and quiet.

Experienced and capable pack leader needed to manage two small dogs while owners travel. One of the dogs is an adolescent Jack Russell who is an absolute treasure but also a complete handful. Its very easy to lose dogs in these parts so we need to know that the sitter is very capable with dogs. You need to be at least a moderately active and fit person with at minimum a moderate interest in walking as the key to keeping the dogs happy and at home is keeping them very well exercised. It is preferable but not essential that the sitter speaks some spanish as the dogs don't understand English.

We're looking for a housesitter for our home and two well-behaved dogs for the week of Aug 29 through Sept 5th. We live about 25 miles west of New York City in a wooded area of New Jersey. We always allow our sitters to stay at the house beyond our return date and get into the city to explore. You can take the commuter bus and be in mid-town Manhattan in less than an hour. We have a four-bedroom, modern house with nice guests rooms and separate guest bathroom. We have lots of deer and other "critters" in our yard and a deck where we eat a lot of meals this time of year. Our dogs are Kyra, a 2 year-old yellow lab and Smokey, a 7-year old terrier mix. We have an invisible fence in our yard so they are allowed to go out and run on their own. They don't need walking. And they love to play with each other. IOW, they don't require a lot of attention. So we're looking for someone who enjoys dogs, is willing to delay spending much time in NYC until we return, and who doesn't have small children (Smokey is not fond of small children.) In 2006, we bought an acre of land on the beautiful Ionian island of Kefalonia, Greece. Since then, we've built a lovely villa, with fantastic sea views, which is let to UK holidaymakers from 1 May to 31 October every year. We are looking for someone, or a couple, to spend a few weeks each year, we'd recommend late March/April for the better weather, but could also be November, to help develop the garden, weeding and maintaining the few areas we have already planted up. Ideally, we'd like someone with landscaping experience to look at the craggy, broken down terraces (formerly steep vineyard terraces) and help us redesign the garden, perhaps rebuild some of the dry stone walls, old stone circle and plant up some new areas, suitable for a dry summer Mediteranean climate with wet winters.

As we have chooks, sheep, a goat and 3 cats, it's important that you are an animal - lover. We don't smoke on our property at all and make our nicotine-addicted friends walk 50 metres to the gate, which means you have to, too, if you smoke! We need someone from Sept 24th until Oct 19th. You would need to arrive a day before so we could show you around, introduce you to the animals and settle you in. You need to be self-sufficient, have your own car and be happy to live in an extremely quiet, riverside setting with just the animals and an orange orchard for neighbours. We have a very quiet tenant on the property who is there to sleep only, as he works quite long hours. You may not even see him! Gisborne with its cafes, movies and lots of shops is only 15 minutes away and there is a dairy for the basics about 5 minutes drive away.
