ok, first let me say that at the moment it is just an idea to get a house sitter. Ideally I am looking to rent out the house(s) on cheap rent for a year or two or longer in return for small amount of work, but if this does not work out, house sitting might be an option. Basically I have a home in Bulgaria and France and tend to spend the winter season in France and a few months each summer in Bulgaria. I purchased several rural village houses in Bulgaria when my circumstances were different. I renovated a handful of these. However, now I want to simplify things and give myself more freedom to travel so I am trying to sell off a few of the houses cheap and my idea for the other renovated properties is to rent out long term. However, if I don't manage to rent then instead of having the place empty house sitting might work. I am looking for a couple who are responsible, hard working, enjoy the outdoor life and gardening. Are able to cope with hot temperatures as well as cold winters. Are happy with dogs (maybe a little dog sitting every now and then) and want to grow vegetables etc.

We would expect the house be kept in the clean and orderly fashion as it will be handed over to the housesitters at all times. Carry out regular weekly garden maintenance of weeding and watering to front/back/deck and indoor gardens and plants. We will be doing a Reference check and a credit check so please be upfront about anything we might find. We would be willing to let the candidate stay there for free if they are handy and willing to do some fixing up around the house. Nothing major, just stuff like cleaning out the gutters, mowing the lawn, maybe some painting… basically keeping it in good shape. This isn't an ordinary house sit, it's an experience in unconventional living, off the grid, for an adventurous but highly reliable and practical person or couple. If you feel there is more to life than spotless villas and money, and would like a taste of living in a beautifully natural location with views and no neighbours, complete with NO mod cons to speak of (although there IS broadband internet and UK satellite TV !) then this could be a possibility. You need to speak some Spanish and have provable experience and love of dogs, and not be afraid of doing handy work around the place yourself, as there is nobody else who will do it for you out here! You have to have a survivor's attitude in practical terms along with an appreciation of natural beauty and the best things in life which are free. If you can bring your own car that's even better. There are 7 dogs here, 5 small and very pretty ones which need regular grooming, and two large beautiful ones, which are kept totally separate all the time. You need to be very hands-on here to harvest rainwater when it comes, and keep solar panels dust-free.. and also keep any wildlife out by not leaving doors and windows open! We are talking wild and interesting places here! This house sit is definitely not for the fainthearted! You will also have to be ok about unconventional bathroom/washing and toilet arrangements. We recycle everything here! And I mean EVERYTHING <g>

We are looking for trust worthy, house proud house sitters with a sense of adventure. I ran this huge place as a B&B for two years. Do you love gardening and everything to do with living near a famous ski resort? This assignment would suit a couple who are semi retired but not quite ready to be put out to pasture. Or perhaps you are young, vibrant and totally in love with the ski slopes? I am trying to sell this home and business and am back in the UK. However, the economic climate being what it is, this may take a while. I'm looking for a minimum committment of six months from my house sitters, but would prefer if you were keen to stay for a year.

This was a successful B&B business but for personal reasons (loss of a darling pet) I do not feel the same about the place. I perservered for a year BUT couldn't shake it off, after that I lost interest.

We live in a little village in rhone - alpes region of France overlooking Lake Geneva called Archamps. It is very rural and all around us the cows are grazing-although its only 8 minutes to the border of Geneva. We have a puppy a kitten and two goldfish! We are looking for someone/sometwo! to come and look after our house and animals. Think you have to be slightly adventurous to deal with a puppy and a kitten at the same time! Looking at 24th July to 03 August and 15th August to 25th August. Guarantee you hot weather! we are also looking for someone from 12 December to the 03 January as we are going to follow the sun for Christmas! This period I guarantee you snow! We are only 45 minutes from the big slopes of the Alpes! We do have bicycles for your exploration purposes but you would probably have to have a license to be able to drive to Geneva.if you are happy on the right hand side of the road we can come to an agreement regarding my car. [Hello, for the past 3 years we have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with our house sitters. They regularly came to stay at our home and look after our pets when we went away. We regularly go away for up to 2 weeks at a time and this is in school holidays as our sons are both in school. We paid our sitters a nominal amount and we found this arrangement worked very well for both parties. Our wonderful sitters are a semi retired couple and we really enjoyed bringing them into our family unit. Over the years, we have become special friends and will stay in touch. We are looking for a similar arrangement - so are interested in a couple / single person who can come regularly to stay in our home. Someone / a couple who works from home, semi or fully retired would suit us perfectly. Our 2 dogs need daily excercise - there is miles and miles of beautiful countryside with direrct access from our garden so country lovers will be very at home here. Our one cat is old and laxy and just needs feeding and a little stroke here and there. Our small clutch of chickens and ducks need daily watering and feeding and shutting up / letting out night and morning. Our house sitters also used to get involved with garden maintenance and odd jobs which we paid an hourly rate for - if you are interested in getting busy there are always lots of jobs to do around our home - but this is your choice - you can chill and enjoy or do jobs if you please! We have a veggie patch, orchard, compost areas and quite extensive gardens so if you like to potter and earn some cash there is always lots to do! Seeking adventurous, reliable housesitters for my off-grid Casita on Vieques, PR. July 1-19, 2009 and randomly ongoing as i'm heading out soon on what will hopefully be a multi-year journey. If you have camping skills this place is idyllic - but you have to want to live this way. Gardening/landscaping skills are a plus - and there's a cat to love and possibly some chickens - the bed (bamboo and rope and hanging from the ceiling - Q mattress) is upstairs - reached by ladder - and there's a hand pump for water - and the last 1/10 mile of road is slippery walking when it rains - so you'll need to be reasonably fit. Vieques is the land of Plan B - so flexibility - resourcefulness - sense of humor all really help.This is a great position for someone wanting to live simply - not a good place for partiers and/or people with alcohol or substance abuse issues.This is "old school" Caribbean living!

You need to be an animal lover to survive here! There are a lot of animals here so some experience of looking after birds and livestock is desirable. The current list of occupants includes a horse, 3 goats, 8 sheep, 4 dogs, 3 cats, a rabbit and a guinea pig. Also there are 6 geese, 2 turkeys, ducks, guinea fowl and lots of chickens, and usually some chicks or ducklings! The list does tend to change though! You will need to have a lot of common sense and a sense of humour. A liking of mud may also be useful during the many wet periods we get here in Wales. However when the sun shines it can be spectacularly beautiful, to the degree that the council have placed a viewing point close by.
