About this assignment
We are looking for a responsible adult or couple able to care for our cats Charlie and Twain.
Arrival date: August 23, 2024
Departure date: September 2, 2024
House sitter can arrive early and depart later, if needed.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
The house sitter will need to provide food and water our cats, and scoop litter boxes.
Twain is diabetic, and the house sitter will be required to test blood sugar twice daily (a simple poke to the ear lobe), and provide insulin as needed (a needle to the scruff of the neck). Twain is familiar and comfortable with the procedure and shouldn't give you any trouble.
Charlie is a four-year old who loves to snuggle.
The house sitter will also be asked to collect the mail and generally mind the house. Garbage is placed by the road once a week.
What are the good features of the property and location
A country home with lots of space, big screen television and tournament size pool table. Very quiet, beautiful in the spring. Our country road is great for walks. A Zoom tour is available to potential house sitters.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
We live in the country, so the house sitter will require his or her own transportation as we are a 15 minute drive from Guelph and 20 minutes from Milton. If the sitter doesn't mind being here without a car, we are happy to pick you up at the train or bus in Milton. Uber does come to our house! It is also possible to have groceries delivered to our home.
We prefer to trade free room for cat and house care.

A Wonderful Pet/Home Owner
My husband Eric & I sat two awesome cats, just shy of 4 months. We fell hard for both Goo & Charlie, they have so much character. Caroline & Brad left very well thought out information about their cats and their home. It is a cozy house with lots to do. Caroline and Brad were always available by phone and regularly communicated with us. We had a health emergency with one of the cats, but Caroline stayed calm and arranged the vet appointments and handled the bills. It was a positive outcome for us all. Four Amazing Buddies
I watched the foursome recently and it was a pleasure. The four cats have personality. The old boy, the brothers, and the jumping kitten! The buddies provided me lots of smiles. Goo seemed intrigued as I was on the treadmill and Charlie made me pay attention during standing yoga poses. I think Charlie is part bat or squirrel, since he can jump into your arms. The best part is that he hugs your neck as he snuggles! Twain and Calixa are sweethearts and purr lots when you visit them. Caroline and Brad were extremely thorough with the house and cats’ folder. Overall, a pleasant sit with the buddies. I was thankful for the jacuzzi!

House sit Christmas / New Year 2019/2020
We had a lovely housesit for Caroline and Brad and their delightful 5 cats. We arrived the day before and they made us very welcome and also ran through the cats routine. They had also printed out information for each cat with a picture which was extremely helpful for the first day whilst we got used to everyone. All the cats were really friendly, some shyer than others but they happily sat on our laps and enjoyed plenty of fuss. The house is very homely, quite remote (no problem as we had a hire car) and there are plenty of great walks nearby as well as 2 main towns for shopping. We also visited Niagara Falls, about an hour and a half easy drive. A great house sit and we would sit again if we were returning to Canada.

An amazing house-sit
Me and my friend Michaela had the opurtunity to house and cat sit for these amazing and friendly people - Caroline and Brad. They gave us all the instructions we needed and helped with everything, as well. The cats were friendly and loved to cuddle a lot, and even though we were just unknown people for them, we got along quite fast, which was very nice. The house, the hot tub, and all the nature around were amazing and so relaxing. If we could, we would definitely go back, and we highly recommend this house-sit, and hope you will enjoy it just as much as we did. ??

A Rewarding House Sit
I recently had the pleasure of house and cat sitting for Caroline and Brad. Their home is nestled in a fabulous woodland property surrounded by some of the finest horse breeding ranches in Ontario. It is quiet and very relaxing and has all the cooking and entertainment amenities necessary for comfortable living. And of course, the highlight of the stay was the companionship of four friendly cats, three of which kept me company either close by or on my knee when watching TV. Two of the cats require medications but it was easy to administer to them and they just accepted the normal procedure they have become accustomed to even with someone who was not familiar to them. Other responsibilities for the feline family include keeping their food and water dishes topped up, scooping cat litter once a day and of course, giving them the occasional treat according to their individual requirements. All of the above was very easy and became a simple routine after a couple of days. Caroline and Brad are very gracious hosts and have printed information regarding the house procedures and each kitty's requirements including colored photos so a sitter can identify who is who until familiar with the gang. If you have the opportunity to spend some time with these folks, you will find it a very pleasant experience
