Rural Andalucia Spain

  • This house is in: Spain, Malaga
  • Dates: variable

About this assignment

Looking for dog-loving house sitter(s) for a solar-powered, old farmhouse the Axarquia region of Spain.  The place is in a small hamlet about three kilometres from the nearest village and is at the head of a valley looking down towards the Med.  We are particularly interested in someone able to cover May and early June 2010.  There is a possibility of regular repeats if all goes well

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Caring for our beloved hound.  She is big and strong so being used to big dogs is important. She likes a couple of walks a day and some toy or stick throwing.
You need to be practical enough to start a generator to draw up water from the well to the tanks and to keep an eye on your power use as the solar system does not produce unlimited electricity.

What are the good features of the property and location

It is a peaceful rural location with good walks in the hills around.  It is great for nature lovers with lots of bird life. There is a large garden with a range of fruit trees.   The property is about 45 minutes from Malaga airport by car.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You must be resourceful and adaptable, interested in living a low-carbon lifestyle and not looking for a luxury villa.  It gets very hot in southern Spain in summer.
