About this assignment

For occasional absences, we are looking for reliable animal lovers, non smokers and non heavy drinkers ONLY, to be responsible for 4 active dogs (3 border collies, one mixed dog, all 50 lbs plus, friendly, one dog needs meds 2x day with meals. Dogs are paramount - need to be exercised off leash for enjoyable walks on our 100 acres. River, waterfall on property. 10 mins to town with library, shops and 30 minutes to North Bay, ON. Nearby lakes for swimming and boating.

We have 2 indoor/outdoor cats, and some hens for eggs which must be collected daily. Ideally someone who is willing to spend the morning hours at home caring for the animals, keeping a neat house, then a few more hours late afternoon and evening to feed and care for dogs again. High speed internet, no tv, comfortable King bed or single bed guest room. Experienced and responsible couple or single with references.

No set dates yet but possible a few weeks in late April or May 2013, mid to late June 2013, and in the fall, dates to be announced.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Care for 4 active dogs, 2 cats and chickens, keep house clean (do your dishes, sweep floors etc). Water and weed gardens during growing season would be appreciated.

What are the good features of the property and location

Fantastic wooden house, comfy for one or two, no carpet, wood and tile floors..

100 acres of trails, fields, forest and river and waterfall. On a quiet dead end road.

Hi speed internet, but no tv! Birds and deer, moose, fox seen occasionally. Very quiet rural property about 4 hrs drive north of Toronto or 2 hours north of Muskoka. Just south of North Bay, On.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Non smoking only. Experienced and reliable persons only. Need your own vehicle. Close to lakes, small towns. Position suits people who love dogs and nature and are content to stay in a rural area for much of the time.

We have Meghan, a Danish born Border Collie; 10.5 yrs young; Finn, male border collie, 4 yrs; Dylan, large border collie mix, 2 yrs; and our latest rescue, Harley, a wonderful boxer mix who is very sweet and adores company. Finn is on meds 2x day (in his food, easy to do).

We have a small fenced area where two or 3 dogs can spend time when you are not walking or not in the house. High energy dogs, they love to run through the field or forest to the river for a swim in good weather, or follow scents on one of the trails.
