We live in a 500ha nature reserve on a beautiful large bushveld farm in South Africa ( 30min away from Pretoria) and are a looking for an animal loving person (or two) who will enjoy looking after our 10 dogs.
We will be away a few days during December and January and want to have peace of mind that our dogs are well taken care of and happy. They are much loved family members and are very important to us.
- Spending time on our estate with and around our dogs & foster dogs
- Walking the dogs & a bit of grooming, checking for ticks, wounds etc.
- Preparing freshly cooked meals for our dogs (morning & evening)
We do have a maid and a gardener, so your sole focus would be our dogs. We won't be away all the time so you will have plenty of opportunity to explore the surroundings and do some sightseeing.
On days were we won't be around we would require you to stay with the dogs.
We are located in a 500ha nature reserve with herds of Giraffe, Zebras, Elands, Sable, Bontebok, Kudu and many other African animals roaming free.
Lying in the cleft of a valley, between two small hillocks, The round Manor house is the citadel of the Estate, a Thatch Haven within a safety electric fenced area of 1,5 acres with many rooms, a large kitchen, lounge and fire place as well as a pool with Lapa and a Boma fire place.
The ‘Bush’, as South Africans call it, is a lush bonsai-like natural garden of thousands of trees, herds of Giraffe, Zebras, Sable, Eland, Bontebok, Kudu, hundreds of bird types, many different small wild buck, and elusive but very present Jackals. Monkeys scurry through the forest playing in the trees. The terrain is full of hills and slopes and the wild hens and the noisy guinea fowl race over the rocks, past the trees and cactus’. At night the owls are active, out and about and hunting for prey.
Pretoria (30km away) is the Capital City of South Africa and is about 30 minutes drive away. Also known as „The Jacaranda City“ due to the enormous number of Jacaranda trees, which make the city appear purple in spring. Pretoria has a beauty all of its own, and the slow pace of life is regarded as a bonus by its residents.
You should enjoy living on a remote (but safe) farm in the countryside. You should love being in nature and with animals.
You should enjoy being around people from all over the world, have an open mind, like interacting with people, be easygoing and relaxed.
As we have a large pack of dogs, experiences in dealing with dogs are desirable. Our dogs are part of the family and need to be treated as such, they need a calm and consistent person to lead and guide them.
