I look for a non smoking single person (possibly a couple) who know how to care for a small older country house, a few plants along with some farm fowl and a cat. The person/s should be mature, clean well educated and responsible with no drug/alcohol issues. They need to enjoy snow activities, have access to at least a front wheel drive car with snow tires as well as how to operate a wood stove. Dealing with small repairs would be helpful, as this place is not so close to any town. If you are an environmentally conscious, savvy person/people, you will be able to live here like I do in the winter economically, by keeping the thermostat to 40-45 degrees F in main part of the house and by living in a large open kitchen area with a bed and a great wood stove. The kitchen has a full bathroom off of it, which has a tank less hot water heater for the shower and can run for months on one little 20 LB grill tank!. I choose to live in my one room during the winter for purely environmentally conscious reasons. If you are a single/couple who wish more space then you can heat the rest of the house and live in it as well. There is a very well maintained unpaved road next to the house and a cross country inn and ski center 1/4 of a mile away where one can also have great meals. This is most unusual being right in the national forest area!

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Take care of some chickens, turkeys and a happy cat who has a door to the outside (no kitty litter)!, water some plants and be able to do small repairs if that comes up. You will have to be able to pay for your use of the energy utilities, less, basic service fees, taxes half of the broadband and for my two extra freezers. I am glad to give you the particulars about the energy/telephone/broadband costs for which I will pay a part to make your stay affordable.

What are the good features of the property and location

For those who would like to live in a beautiful clean unspoiled place with hiking and skiing trails, this would be it! The cheerful, sunny home overlooks a huge bright meadow, mountains and a huge pond where wildlife is seen frequently. I make it very convenient to care for my outdoor animals. I built a solar mobile barn which is moved right next to the kitchen, so it is very close and easy to access feed the birds and clean during the snowy winter months. What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The sitters will pay for any oil, wood, electric and telephone they use only while they are here but I will supplement the costs as mentioned.
