Five quiet acres in northern california

  • This house is in: United States, Shingle Springs
  • Dates: variable

About this assignment

We are looking for a mature couple (or single person) that is responsible and conscientious and loves the country. Someone who will take care of our home and animals while we are away.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The responsibilities will be to take care of the house and yard. Feed the birds. The yard work is easy since most is on automatic drip systems. There are some plants in pots that need hand watering. Inside plants too. Also, pick up mail at the local post office. We would expect the house to be kept generally neat and clean as would be usual. We have an inside cat, Leo. He's very sweet. We've added another family member, Jake, a black and tan hound mix. He's a gentle, laid-back boy but he does need daily exercise, at least a nice long walk every day. Leo is trying to decide whether to let him stay but I think he'll come around soon.

What are the good features of the property and location

The good features of the property and location are that it is rural, quiet with a beautiful view and occasional visits from the local fauna; mostly deer, but often coyote and fox. There is access to lots of outside activities. San Francisco to the west, Lake Tahoe to the east and plenty of interesting historic California towns inbetween.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Potential housesitters will need to consider whether they would appreciate the peace and quiet of the country. It gets hot here in the summer. Litter boxes need frequent looking after.
