About this assignment

We are looking for a responsible person or couple to watch our house, small dog, 2 cats and chickens this summer for approximately 3 weeks in May.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The cats need daily feeding and litter cleaning twice a week. Our dog likes to have company. She's small, so one walk a day is fine, but she's high energy so does need supervision. The chickens need eggs collected daily and some scooping and food refresh a couple of times a week. There are always plants to water too.

What are the good features of the property and location

We are close to downtown in Gainesville, FL, just a mile and a half or so north of the University of Florida. Its walkable or a short drive to cafes, breweries, restaurants and music venues. East coast beaches or the many springs and rivers of north central Florida are easy day trips. Our home is a spacious mid-century ranch with a courtyard, private backyard and above ground pool. We have WiFi, cable TV, a small pool table and a great treadmill and rowing machine in our home gym.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Our dog REALLY likes company so please be aware of that, she is only a year and a half and does not like to be alone too much. She's also a bit of a runner/escape artist so you do need to watch out for that. It's good to have a car here, though not critical. And Gainesville really starts to warm up in May so be ready for heat. We have some flexibility with dates and do prefer that you come with references.
