Cecilia and Brad, retired non-smoking couple from Flagstaff, Arizona who are mindful of the respect you deserve for your home and pets. Extensive experience with cats and dogs. Our hobbies are to read, garden, watch great movies, hike, listen to music and audiobooks. We have our own vehicle for housesitting in US, Canada, Mexico, and are financially independent.
We will keep a home impeccable and in good working order. We were Airbnb hosts for 2 years in Flagstaff (our home of 20 years) with 100 + positive reviews from happy guests. We have also excellent reviews as guests, in other words, we respect other people's properties and treat it as if our own. Of course that includes plants and gardens.
We have gained lots of experience with cats and dogs since we begun doing this in 2016. We've cared for cats young and old (including an 18-year old senior kitty, and a blind one), and dogs small and large, young and seniors. We enjoy walking with them, cuddling, playing ball or fetch, or just chilling around the house. We love animals and believe strongly that they need attention, love and care not simply food and water.
We are looking for a housesit and petsit either urban or rural for anywhere between 2 weeks and 6 months, we are flexible. It could also be more than 6 months depending on the location.
We had our beloved Pearl (rescued cat, see her picture in the listing) for 13 years, recently lost her to kidney failure and are still heartbroken.
In Flagstaff, Cecilia worked in academia for the local University and Brad did GIS for the county (Geographical Information Systems).
We did successful home exchanges (our home is less than an hour south of the Grand Canyon) for over 9 years in Europe, French Polynesia, Australia, the US and Canada.
We like to keep open lines of communication and keep you well informed through e-mails, Skype, phone calls. You will get as much (or as little) information about your pets and home as you'd prefer.
We enjoy expanding our understanding of other places, people, and customs.
We are in good health and love to cuddle with pets. We prefer not to be in charge of larger animals (horses, donkeys, etc.) Reasonable amount of housework and small maintenance tasks are also possible.
We aim for an "insider, local" view of life instead of the tourist understanding of someone just passing through. We still have our home in Flagstaff (rented), but being retired means having the chance to re-invent ourselves in various settings.
Very experienced with cats and dogs, young and old, healthy and infirm. We have house and pet sat in Arizona, Texas, Massachusetts, Florida, California, New Mexico, New York, Ontario Canada, Santiago de Chile, Guadalajara,Mexico, Cambridge and London UK. We are also members of other petsitting websites (Housesitters America, UK) so our references for those sits will not show on this site. We are happy to provide references.
Love of animals. Willingness to give your pets the attention they seek and deserve. Kind, patient, and loving disposition towards animals.
Drop us a line! We look forward to hearing from you.

We got lucky ... SUPER LUCKY! This was our first time using MindMyHouse, and Cecilia and Brad's profile just jumped out at me. I contacted them right away and they agreed, upon very short notice, to come to our home in the Bay Area to care for our two beloved Labrador retrievers for almost 3 weeks. Immediately after speaking, my anxieties about leaving our precious and very geriatric Labs disappeared ... and we never once worried about them while we were away. We knew that Cecilia and Brad were taking great care of them. Annie, our 14-year-old Lab, is almost totally deaf, going blind and getting crazy as a hoot owl ... but we knew that Cecilia and Brad were giving her special TLC along with her medicines and that she was getting great care. Roxy, our younger old Lab, also got her walks and exercise and loving care, too. It was nice to know that Cecilia and Brad had no other responsibilities/jobs/commitments other than just enjoying their time in our home and spending time with our girls. We were especially grateful to receive photos of the dogs from Cecilia, and we even got nice texts from our neighbors saying they'd met C and B on the street during dog walks ... and it just made our get-away stress-free on the home and dog care fronts. When we returned, we found the sheets changed, towels washed, and home totally immaculate ... and even freshly-baked empanadas in the refrigerator for our dinner when we got home late. Couldn't have been better! We are so grateful and appreciative to have found Cecilia and Brad, and you will be lucky if they are able to care for your pets and home some day, too.
Cecilia and Brad are a dream come true. I can't possibly sing their praises enough to truly do them justice. We have had several very good house sitters over the years but this couple tops them all. They fulfilled all our wishes and more. Cecilia was a very good communicator right from the start. We talked on the phone before I made my final decision and by the end of the call I was sure they were the house sitters we needed. She asked pertinent questions, making sure she understood our needs and showed sensitivity toward the needs of our pets. Clearly, she was an experienced house sitter. We regularly kept in touch prior to their arrival and easily coordinated the meeting at my house. From the moment our exuberant Golden Retriever met them at the front door to the day they departed our house for another nearby house sit, I never had a doubt in my mind that our dog and cranky, elderly cat were lovingly cared for. Cecilia kindly asked me how often I would like to hear from her while on our month-long vacation abroad and she checked in right on schedule, sending photos of the pets along the way that were heartwarming. Our 36 year old daughter lives in a separate apartment in our home and she told me that they often baked banana bread and generously shared it with her. They are just the nicest people. On our arrival home, the house was absolutely immaculate. They must have really knocked themselves out. Not only was all the laundry done and put away but the clean sheets were on the nicely made guest room bed. Not a thing was out of place, not a stray bit of pet fur hiding in corners. I couldn't have don't it any better myself. The mail was organized, the plants were watered the day we returned, the fridge was spotless and the all trash was put in the garbage cans outside. Even the lint trap in the dryer was clean. I have already asked Cecilia and Brad if they would be interested in sitting again for us. My fingers are crossed that this very in-demand couple will be available when we need the next. I guarantee you will not be disappointed by these two. Your home and pets couldn't be in better hands.
Cecilia and Brad stayed at my home for about 3 months. I returned to a clean home and a happy kitty. Brad even replaced my garbage disposal. I would highly recommend them.
I began my friendship with Celicia at the beginning of this year. We met on MindMyHouse.com and communicated frequently about the two months they were going to stay in Orlando while I was away in Asia. I wanted someone who truly loved animals first and foremost, but also a couple who knew what it was to own a home and look after it responsibly. I think the third most important aspect of choosing a couple to mind your home and pets, is how much you can trust them to follow through with their word and show up. I had no backup plan if a sitter of my choice let me down. My cats would have had to go into a kennel and one reason that I shudder about that is because Bibi, the female cat, is blind and needs special understanding. Cecilia and Brad are the kind of couple who, if they say they will be there, they will be there, and exactly on schedule. And they will communicate when they leave and on the road. Reliability is a huge part of choosing the right sitter. And for that alone I'll be eternally grateful to them. I met Brad on arrival and found him to be a charming gentleman with good humor. Cecilia keeps everything neat and clean. They are a fine couple who are adding adventure to their retirement, for which I applaud them.
Cecilia & Brad are everything that they described in their profile. We communicated quite a bit about the kitties in the weeks leading up to their journey. They arrived perfectly on time to go over everything and I left the country for two busy months emailing at intervals. I came back to a neat, clean home and they had bonded well with the kitties. Even the blind cat was calm and relaxed. They are welcome to housesit any time and I will always be delighted to offer a personal reference. I gather kind, honest people in my circle so I naturally consider us friends for life.
