About this sitter
Retired in 2019, I have years of experience in various client-based services including 20 years in USAF medical services, administration in university settings & federal government providing assistance to executives, chairpersons and Air Force Generals as well as volunteering at local museums including the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. Am a mother to an adult child and was grandmom to 2 miniature English bulldog/grand-dogs. In 2021 I became Mom to a Cavachon puppy, Fin, who is now house-trained and has completed basic obedience and some additional training; he loves people and other friendly pups and cats. In the past, I have had a Yorkie for nearly 16 years and cared for friends' dog(s). For a while I provide pet sitting services on Rover.com. I have lived abroad including growing up in Germany, 4 years in the UK, 3 years in Turkey and 2 years in Okinawa.
Why they want to house sit
I am interested in house-sitting because I like being a traveler rather than a tourist and therefore wish to explore a location in-depth.
I have traveled extensively in Europe and love being in nature. Other hobbies/interests include: baking, reading, history, swimming, hiking, biking, writing and photography.
Their experience
I am experienced in sitting/caring for pets (dogs, birds, fish, cats)
I also have housekeeping experience since, as a teen, I assisted my German mother with her house-cleaning business.
What can they bring to the assignment
I am trustworthy, having spent 20 years in the USAF (I was granted Top Secret clearances twice and all my background investigations have always been cleared.
I speak German and have some basic Spanish and Italian language skills.
I am willing to do some light housekeeping/gardening tasks while caring for your pets and/or home.
If agreeable and in the United States, I would like to bring my dog to some assignments

5 stars, over the top , above and beyond
Vera was amazing. The house was spotless when I got home. All the laundry was washed and folded just like Marie Kondo. She got me tulips in a vase on the kitchen table, and a little card and a small gift. And I do appreciate the few photos she sent me of my cat letting me know he was in good shape. I really am touched and highly highly recommend. Thank you Vera.
