About this sitter

Hello! I have had extensive animal care and farm experience Managing my Brother's seven acre farm located approximately an hour north of the city of Barcelona.
Prior to this, I was a nurse and rescued my dearest cat, Benji when she was two years old. Her kidneys were weak because she had been fed dried food only (the owners didn't know, as vets are encouraged to promote dried food, as big firms frequently 'pay' to keep Vet schools going). Benji was the love of my life, and in spite of weak kidneys, I kept her going until she was 19 years old. The happiest days of my life so far, were taking her into the fields and together we would sit there, nestled among the birds, bees, insects, butterflies, flowers and trees. I had to administer water via syringe three times a day after she reached the age of 13 and was told, she "only had months to live" - but i was determined to keep her going, and did - until she was 19..... I have been a Nurse for the last five years, and have also been administering my patients various types of injections, so this comes naturally to me, both caring for animals, humans and land itself, and administering injections. I have had a marvellous time caring for cats, dogs, sheep and chickens and seven acres of land at my brother's farm in Mass Moio, - about an hour north of Barcelona. He has various "workaways" coming and going, and said I was one of the hardest workers he had ever had during the course of the last three years, maintaining the farm in all its splendour, and caring for the animals, was an absolute honour.

Why they want to house sit

to care for animals and land

Their experience

I have had a marvellous time caring for cats, dogs, sheep and chickens and seven acres of land at my brother's farm in Mass Moio, which is about an hour north of Barcelona. He has various "workaways" coming and going, and said I was one of the ones who "worked the hardest" maintaining the farm in all its splendour, and caring for the animals, was an absolute honour. I was up every morning, before the Cockrel did his call, to feed and top up their water, then ensure the sheep had clean drinking water daily. There is an extensive "food forest" which also needed caring for ((watering and weeding, daily, unless there was - albeit somewhat a rare occurence, rainfall. I kept the gutters clean, and the swimming pool too. I checked the fencing daily, particularly around the animals, the sheep and chickens. Also daily checks on the fencing around the vast food forest, as the Wild Boar have a tendency to much on the precious vegetables! I also had to ensure the "baby plants" being cultivated inside the vast bamboo structure - are grown. I had to turn the compost over, and ensure the seven water tanks and the pump were in good working order each day. The water from the tanks feeds onto the food forest, and even has Goldfish in them to add to the nutritional value of the water. I had to ensure the "worm farm" was also kept at exactly the right level of "dampness". Also, of course, keeping the living quarters clean - imperative particularly in the very hot months due to Mosquitos. I recently had the honour of ensuring two baby lambs "latched on" to their Mother shortly after she gave birth, a wonderful emotional moment, I will treasure for the rest of my life. My brother taught me how to use a Machete to cut down the River Cane Bamboo so that we could replace the fencing of the bamboo which had miraculously held fast for more than three years, but I had found weak spots, in my zealous health and safety daily checks of all areas of the seven acres of lush paradise.

What can they bring to the assignment

as above - love, hard work, experience, and strength on every level.

My. reviews:

Suzanne Goody, St Abans, Hertfordshire,
Suzi came to the rescue when we had to have an emergency leave of absence from our family home. She cared for our home and our four dogs. She is kind compassionate and adores animals and will do anything, literally to provide comfort and care for them, ensuring they are never lonely, well fed and walked, if and when necessary. She also maintained our home in St Albans, while we had to spend time in Cornwall, and we even had a surprise birthday spread she bought for us from the delightful Marks and Spencer's. .Suzi heard my plea for help and even eneded her holiday prematurely in Barcelona so that she could care for our four dogs, as she is such an animal lover, that their welfare, came first.
I thoroughly recommend Susan for any potential future assignments.

Mara Loita Community Rangers
I was helping the Mara Loita Community Rangers in the Maasai Mara, during January 2024. It was approximately nine hours from Nairobi, in the jungle. We were stopping the poachers from killing the elephants, gazelles, and other creatures and preserving the precious landscape, here is a photo with me and some of the village people. A true honour indeed.
