Obviously, you have to love cats and dogs and respect my home. You need to be reliable and trustworthy, of course. Also, I may not be personally available to do a hand-over.
Feeding, cuddling and playing with my pets. For this period, I need my two cats, Lili and Zoe, looked after and fed. Lili is a Persian and may need some grooming as well.
It's a lovely area: Ideally located between the sea and the mountains, the village of Poujol-sur-Orb is nestled at the foot of the Caroux and Espinouse range.
My home has only been partially renovated and there is no parking immediately outside the house. I may not be there to do the handover personally, but I have a friend nearby who will help if necessary.
I house-sat for Michele in her lovely period apartment in the village of Pujol-Sur-Orb for about 4 weeks over Christmas and New Year. Michele was very helpful in ensuring I was going to be comfortable during my stay there and that I have adequate help and directions to find the property. As Michele was not able to be there in person a friend who lived locally was made available to me and was a great help with trips to the supermarket and even the offer for a home-cooked meal on Christmas day. Michele's dog Lucie is the most adorable and lovely and happy girl, with so much energy and the sweetest heart. She is very well behaved and as an avid hiker made the most wonderful companion and would keep pace with me for hours. The hiking and natural environment near Michele's apartment is stunning, for lovers of the outdoors, this will be heaven. Hiking trails along the river, to nearby villages and in the mountains and hills can be accessed literally within metres of the front door. I spend many hours discovering new trails and enjoying the peace and serenity of the woods nearby. The village is small and quiet, and I enjoyed a restful and restorative four weeks there. Michele's cat Lili is also delightful. This lovely calm older Persian loves attention and company, welcoming Lucie and I home as we walked down the narrow street and up the stairs. House sitting at Michele's was a lovely French getaway and a beautiful opportunity to live an authentic village life.
I've been pet-sitting for Michele for a little over a month and it has been one of the most pleasant sits to date! I highly recommend this assignment for any animal-loving sitter. From the beginning, Michele has been kind, friendly, helpful, and communicative. We were in touch via email and WhatsApp for a while before my arrival and she told me all about the house and village. She also helped me determine how to get here by bus from Montpellier, which ended up being quite easy and a pleasant journey. When I arrived, Michele and her daughter welcomed me warmly and offered me a lovely meal, which allowed us to get to know each other a bit more before their departure the next day. The cat and dog, Lucie and Lilie, also offered a warm welcome and are both as sweet as they are adorable. I also met Michele's friend/neighbor Paul who has been a great and helpful friend during my stay here. The house has all the character of an older building but with all the modern comforts and is right in the middle of the charming and beautiful village. All around, there are trails to walk through gorgeous scenery including woods and vineyards. Public transit is easily accessible as well, which is great for those without a car and can take you to all the nearby villages as well as Montpellier. The local shop has everything you need in a pinch and loves to see Lucie, and it's easy to get to other shops like Lidl as well. The villages nearby have lots of little shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, etc., as well, and Lamalou has a renowned health center/spa which you might enjoy. Truly this is the perfect sit for anyone who enjoys peace and quiet, walks in nature, and pet cuddles! :) Thank you Michele, for letting me sit for you! -Kate Daniel
