About this assignment

House sitter needs to be comfortable with staying in a rustic home, taking care to keep it clean, neat and tidy. They are responsible for the electricity used, but water is free.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

No smoking inside the house please. If anything is broken, please arrange to have it repaired. House sitter must buy own electricity but water is free. If the water tank must be kept full so that the solar geyser doesn't burst. Please make sure it is full before leaving. Other than this, just keep house clean, neat and tidy. There is a 5kg maximum load washing machine to do your laundry.

What are the good features of the property and location

The house is free-standing on a farm. My uncle's Labrador, Zorro, might come over to visit. He is free to go where he wants to be. There is food for him if he wants, just not to much as he is overweight :-) Other than that, there are many wine farms in the area, fantastic areas to hike, bike or go horse riding (not for beginners or novice riders though). It's also great place to sit on the stoep and watch the bird life, or go exploring neighbouring farms. Parmalat and Mooivalley Dairy is in Bonnievale. They have factory shops where one can buy a range of dairy products at great prices. There are many and varied types of events in the area throughout the year from mountain biking, road cycling events to wine festivals. Best to check before coming. Can also go 4x4 on the farm or in the area. Nature lovers would enjoy being here, as well as those that need a break from the rat race. There is a braai (barbecue) area outside so feel free to make a fire. Would is freely available from the Bluegum trees. Just please keep control over the fire at all times as its dry there.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

House sitters must have their own transport, but a 4x4 is not necessary. They must be problem solvers, be able to make a plan if need be and communicate well. The accommodation is basic, rustic style but comfortable. Must come as if you are going camping.
