About this assignment

A responsible and caring person who enjoys the company of a small(ish) dog, walks and exploring the local countryside and doesn’t mind sharing the house with an 18 year old, house trained male! My son works shifts so is unable to be around to walk and feed the dog at the necessary times, hence the need for you, but he is totally independent and won’t need any care! My dog is happy to be left alone for up to a maximum of 4 hours at a time during the day, allowing you plenty of time to go off and do your own thing as well as spending time with him.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Just walking, feeding and giving attention and love to a nearly 8 year old Patterdale x Jack Russell and giving food to the fish in a pond. If it is hot, it would be helpful if plants could be watered but other than tidying up after yourself, I wouldn’t expect any cleaning or garden work, but by all means do if you want to!

What are the good features of the property and location

Situated just 1.5 miles inland from the beautiful Jurrasic coast where Broadchurch was filmed, there are plenty of beach and countryside walks as well as a large, secure garden. Bridport town centre is within walking distance and is a bohemian, arty, market town with a very active arts centre and an electric palace as well as having plenty of good places for eating and drinking. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside and many places of interest to visit too.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Whether they are happy to have an 18 year old male, coming and going although he is either in his room or out.
The dog needs one walk of at least an hour, a day. He is a patterjack terrier and has all the terrier traits so will chase livestock if in the field with them and needs to be kept on a lead. That said, he is great off the lead when not around livestock and can be called back (usually, he is a terrier after all!) with a whistle or by offering a ball being thrown, although less inclined to give the ball back!
