About this assignment

We’re looking for a calm, responsible, retired or older sitter (single or couple) who genuinely enjoys the company of cats. We have three indoor cats — Coltrane, Zelda, and Morrison — each with their own sweet personality. Coltrane is shy and needs a gentle, patient presence, while Zelda and Morrison are more social and easygoing. We also feed two friendly neighbor cats who climb up a tree onto our deck (lanai) twice a day.

Our ideal sitter is someone tidy, respectful of a lived?in home, and comfortable with a peaceful daily routine. Reliability, good communication, and kindness toward animals are the qualities that matter most to us.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Your main responsibility will be caring for our three indoor cats — Coltrane, Zelda, and Morrison — with feeding a few times a day, fresh water, and every other day, litter scooping. Coltrane is shy and appreciates a gentle, patient presence, while Zelda and Morrison are very easygoing. You'll also feed two friendly neighbor cats, Rudi and Ginge, on the lanai twice a day. All the cats are pictured and sweet!

Other simple tasks include bringing in mail and packages, watering a few potted plants every few days, and keeping the home tidy. Once a week, we ask that you start our three sitting vehicles and let them run briefly to keep the batteries healthy. No driving is required.

We do have a trusted local caretaker who will occasionally stop by to access the garage for supplies and to do a load of laundry related to our two nearby vacation rentals. She is respectful, in and out, and does not use or enter the main part of the house. We don’t allow any other visitors or guests during the sit. We just ask for someone who is present enough to keep the cats company and maintain a calm, peaceful routine in the house.

Our home is in a quiet, peaceful part of Maui's South Kihei area, just a short walk or quick drive to beautiful beaches, parks, and gentle walking areas. The neighborhood is safe, friendly, and relaxed, with a true local feel. We enjoy steady sunshine, soft breezes, and visits from tropical birds at our feeders you can use if you like.

The house itself is comfortable and lived?in, with an ocean view from the deck and plenty of cozy spots to read, relax, or spend time with the cats. Grocery stores, small shops, and restaurants are only a few minutes away with the 2008 Mazda five we supply as well, but the home stays calm and quiet throughout the day. It’s an easy place to settle into a simple, peaceful routine.
