About this assignment

I am looking for someone who cares about animals and loves the French countryside. Somebody honest and reliable, who will look after my home and who will ensure it is in a clean state when I return home from my travels!!! There is just one cat Monkey who requires feeding twice a day. Would be good if the sitter is able to do housework not a spring clean but basic stuff. , Clean floors from time to time particularly if the weather is wet. A minimum amount of gardening. I have a gardener but a bit of weeding and hedge trimming.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The house is up for sale so preferably somebody or a couple who would be polite to any agent who contacted them to make a visit during this period!! primarily to look after cat and to keep home and garden tidy.

What are the good features of the property and location

I have a comfortable traditional Normandy colombage house ( built thirty years ago). It has four bedrooms one bathroom downstairs with seperate wc and one shower room. Electric heating and log fire in salon. There are lovely views across the valley. The nearby town of Pont Audemer is about 5 minutes drive. Ideal for tourists as the picturesque port of Honfleur is 25 minutes away. Close to the Normandy beaches and one hour from Caen and 45 minutes from Rouen. An hour and a half from Paris.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

To have had experience of caring for animals and to provide references. A car is necessary. To agree to undertake some tasks like hedge cutting and general care of my home and garden.

French cottage living

Caring for the animals and home at Jean's Normandy cottage was a wonderful experience! Jean made us feel very welcome and extremely comfortable. We enjoyed visiting the local markets at the nearby village and were grateful to be welcomed into the homes of Jean's neighbours. It's such a gorgeous cottage that doing a spot of gardening was a true pleasure. Listening to the birds and enjoying the view while the sun sets is the perfect way to spent the afternoon. If you are fortunate enough to sit for Jean then you are very very lucky. A truely memorable experience.
