About this sitter

We are a healthy retired professional couple (73 and 66), have our own transport, are fully vaccinated, non smokers + no children now. We are honest, respectable, trustworthy, maintain high standards, organised, tidy, versatile and adaptable. We both grew up caring for dogs and cats and also whilst raising a family.

We are both animal lovers and feel confident that we can properly care for additional animals other than cats and dogs, [such as poultry] - with your guidance.

We know that dogs respond well to calm, confidence, clarity, boundaries, praise, gentleness, and we enjoy play and tactile affection with them. Though resolutely independent, cats too respond well to similar behaviours.

Our main activities are walking and travelling. We divide our time between our homes in UK in semi-rural Kent and Spain [which makes keeping our own pets difficult]. We have improvers Spanish and French conversational abilities.

We expect little from our house-sitting engagements other than our own room, bathroom, fridge/freezer, cooker [not microwave] TV, internet and safe parking space. We expect to carry out normal domestic activities such as getting our own shopping, taking out our rubbish, cleaning and tidying our own spaces etc. We are happy to do minor garden maintenance [watering etc].

Why they want to house sit

As we travel regularly between our homes, keeping pets is practically impossible. So, we feel that house-sitting will give us the opportunity to combine both passions. We can meet plenty of lovely dogs, cats etc. and discover new places.

Their experience

We have now carried out 3 MindmyHouse house sits. two in Spain and one in the UK. all were succesfull and as far as we know to the complete satisfaction of the home and pet owners. One of them has become good friends and we now see them regularly. We have also coped with a substantial water leak whilst house-sitting.

We are experienced at caring for cats and dogs. In the past, we have successfully taken in and cared for dogs belonging to friends whilst they are away. In our childhood and when raising children we have owned and loved cats, dogs and the other customary smaller pets. We know how to administer medication to cats and dogs.

We are seasoned self-catering travellers.

We feel confident that we can provide proper care for other animals - feeding, cleaning out, locking up at night etc with some guidance. Neither of us can ride so exercising horses is not possible.

What can they bring to the assignment

We are mature, experienced, sensible, resourceful and adaptable. We have high standards of tidiness and cleanliness and we will look after your home and your animal with love and care as if they were our own. We are happy to use our own car to carry dogs [with seat-belt leads].

We are flexible and open to suggestion for any specific requirements.
