Nomadic hiking guide + dog lover ready to sit!

About this sitter

Hi there! I'm a semi-nomadic hiking guide, working in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I am looking to help home and pet owners in between work assignments and during my off season as I work remotely and travel.

My 15lb daschund terrier "Sparky" is very friendly with people and dogs, house trained, and I keep him closely supervised. He does have typical terrier energy and prey drive. Happy to respect owners wishes as to the handling of my dog and pet interactions during my sits. The best fit will be with compatible friendly dogs and/or a situation where cats can have the ability to retreat to their own space out of reach. Cats have historically had great fun teasing my dog when he can't reach them!

My only personal requirement is reliable internet and access the to the property in my van which is 2WD.

Why they want to house sit

I'm looking for opportunities to spend my downtime and flexible winter months in new locations, and explore my beautiful country (the USA). House and pet-sitting is a great way to provide support while discovering a new area and meeting great folks!

Their experience

I've 15 yrs experience working in a variety of roles in tourism, hospitality, customer service, education and wilderness guiding, so you can expect me to be highly attentive to detail, communicative, and highly aware of the importance of appropriate safety precautions.

I'm a dog owner as well and have first hand experience socializing my dog with a large variety of breeds. I feel the pain of handing my pup off when I need to travel or work and endeavor to emulate the qualities of a sitter I can trust in the service I provide.

What can they bring to the assignment

I bring the belief that "dogs (and other loved critters!) are people too", with their own personalities, needs, and relationships among each other and people. Your pets will be loved and respected, and boundaries will be upheld in the home. I can also support your travel plans and share my knowledge gained from extensive international and domestic travel. If you'd like to get into backpacking, with or without a pup, I can help with that too!
