About this assignment

In September 2016 our current house-sitters will be moving on after more than 2 years with us and we are seeking a couple to replace them. If you are fit and active, reliable and conscientious, love the outdoor life and enjoy rural France this might be just what you are looking for. You will need to turn your hands to the variety of task needed around our tiny newly renovated hamlet.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

In our absence you will undertake normal house-sitting duties including garden and pool maintenance, general overseeing of the properties and site, rarely greeting cottage guests and caring for our 6 cats.
At other times you will help us with the day to day maintenance at Les Bucheries including gardening and grounds maintenance, odd jobs and DIY, housekeeping and help with change overs.

What are the good features of the property and location

House-sitter/guardians will live in their own property, a newly renovated, fully furnished 2 bedroomed cottage, Cheveche, situated 300 metres from the main house. No charge will be made for this in return for "help" given. Because of the length of the assignment this is an ideal opportunity to become immersed in life in rural France without a permanent commitment. The location lends itself to many outdoor pursuits and the Charente itself boasts many historical and cultural attractions. See more at www.leschouettesholidaycottages.com

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We are seeking a commitment of 6 months or more because of the size of the property. It will therefore be useful to have a working knowledge of the french language and a wish to integrate with the local community. Because of its rural nature car ownership/ability to drive is essential.
