About this assignment

We (Richard 60 and Lynn 54) retired from the NHS in 2005 and are now living in the beautiful, unspoilt department of the Charente, SW France.
We are looking for a responsible, trustworthy and active couple to become REGULAR sitters for us during our holidays and trips to the UK. This will mostly be in the autumn and winter months for periods of now more than 3 weeks but could also include shorter periods throughout the year.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

We need a couple to care for our main house, cottage, garden, fishing lake and swimming pool. In addition we have 6 cats ranging from 9 months to 15 years who would much rather sit on a lap than go to the local cattery! On very rare occasions there may be paying guests in our cottage.

What are the good features of the property and location

We are situated between the villages of Montemboeuf and Vitrac St Vincent. Montemboeuf is 3 kilometers away and has all necesary servicews and facilities with Angouleme being the nearest city and Limoges the nearest airport.
Our home sits in 2 acres of garden and consists of 2 properties - a 19th century 3 storey Maison de Maitre with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and a separate 2 bedroomed cottage with gym, sauna and jacuzzi. Both are fully centrally heated and renovated.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Our home is in a quiet, rural area but not isolated with our nearest (french) neighbours 300 m away.The surrounding area is perfect for walking, cycling and running, all directly from our doorstep.
We have developed a wide range of social networks and activities which sitters may wish to access such as choirs, garden clubs, exercise classes. Previous sitters have been well looked after by our friends!
A vehicle may be available subject to insurance qualification. Sitters would be welcome to stay either in the main house or the cottage.
