About this assignment

Reliable honest person or couple to look after our farmhouse. Non smoker. Doggie lover essential. Happy for sitter to come in advance and stay for a few days to introduce them to the area. Would ideally suit someone who could do regular sits for us so maybe based in UK.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

To look after the house and our fur babies. Main thing is to look after our four adorable rescue dogs who are very loving and need walked, fed and played with.
Three of our dogs sleep on the bed so sitter would need to be comfortable with that. We would also want people who keep the house and garden tidy too. We would ask that the wild birds are fed as we feed them all year round.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our property is fairly remote but beautiful views and only 15 minutes drive from picturesque Kingsbarns and St Andrews. It is quiet with lovely large garden and lovely coastal walks and beaches nearby. It is a four bedroomed farmhouse with plenty of space and modernised. Only 4 miles from Elie and Earlsferry which has baker, deli, chemist and small shops. A car is essential for this sit.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The farmhouse is not walking distance to a shop but I do have a car available if UK residents, with clean driving license, for use as lots of lovely places to visit nearby.
It is a remote location but 4 miles from local village. If non UK residents then a car would be required.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Testimonials

Very special dogs with wonderful location.

Karin and Neil were wonderful hosts. We mistakenly showed up a day early but that worked out well as we went on extra walks to check out the many different walking trails. We were graciously provided dinner and tours of the surrounding areas. Bodie, Donnie, Millie, and Max all have wonderful personalities and were a real joy to sit. The large farm house is within easy driving distance to Elie or St. Andrews or numerous other picturesque villages and there are so many different beautiful walks for the dogs- hills, beaches and forests. Very good communication before and during the sit. When we make it back to Scotland in the future we will be sure to look up Karin and Neil and their furry family.

Karin and Neil were outstanding!

The 4 fur-babies...Millie (The Lovely Diva!), Bodie, Donny and Max... had such wonderful and distinct personalities. I had so much fun with them and they had me laughing constantly. I totally fell in love with each one of them!!! Karin and Neil did a great job explaining the fur-babies daily routines. They also did a fantastic job of familiarizing me with the area. If you are chosen by Karin and Neil to take care of the babies you will have an absolutely fantastic time!!!

We left our hearts at the farm house

We fell in love with the Patrick's 4 dogs, Bodie, Donny, Millie and Max. They are 4 unique characters that we got to know during two, 2-week sits. The home was a lovely, remote farm house. We drove the dogs 15 minutes to Shell Beach each morning for a 2-mile walk, then 12 minutes drive each evening for a 1+ mile walk in the forest. These dogs just love their walks and are so happy to get ready, into harnesses, and into the car, and then they are very good on the walks.... always coming to the sound of shaking the treat bin. Each of them loved to sit with us, or be petted. We enjoyed our time in the country caring for these doggies and would love to watch them again if details worked out.
