Casa Cavaliere in the green Umbrian hills

  • This house is in: Italy, Magione/Perugia
  • Dates: variable

About this assignment

one or two persons who are present and enjoy using what nature offers as we did for the past 20 years when we ran an educational project in 2 houses on 25 acres with olives and sheep. Now the sheep are sold and we rented out for a while, but in the meantime would have to invest so much in order to legalize the activity that we prefer to work outside waiting for the property to find a new destination. Since there is so much beautiful room, sitters could invite friends to stay with them (economic contribution to be negotiated).

I might not be off most of the time, but, due to a hand-surgery 9 months ago, would very much appreciate help in strimming. It would be perfect to have someone for a longer amount of time. In addition, and if you like, there might be WWOOFers (willing workers on organic farms) to help.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

taking care of the garden (also for his/her own food-requirements), watering plants, maintain the property, strimming (about 4 hours of work a day), feeding one dog.

What are the good features of the property and location

The property extends on a hill above Lago Trasimeno (you see it from the highest point)at 450 m in a small settlement with Dutch, Sicilian and Umbrian neighbours. It ist park-like, surrounded by trees, with a swimming pool (will not be opened this year), bakery, wood-shop, atelier, gorgeous panorama, plenty of light and surrounded by fences and a closeable gate. Magione, with 8 supermarkets, train-station and anything you might need is at 10 km distance, the nearest village with a bus-stop at 4 km. To Perugia it takes 20 min.with the car.

Telefone, internet (7 MB), all commodities, but no luxury.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Please don't apply for this position if you can't make a (minimum) three month commitment to the job. If you've taken a sabbatical from a stressful job, it would be the ideal opportunity to switch and immerge in rural rhythm - as did the last couple who stayed from June to November. We had a great time together.
