We are looking for a housesitter (or two!) to look after our farmhouse in hilly central Portugal. You'd be looking after our two cheeky terriers and three new cats so we particularly welcome animal lovers. Own transport is not a must, but is preferable.
We need someone to keep the dogs alive and happy, and the cats away from the dogs! You'd also need to give coffee and biscuits to the builders who will come one or two days a week to work on an outbuilding and to oversee the people who come to pick the olives for a few days in December. We would like someone who is keen on being outside and going for walks in the surrounding area with the dogs and who would enjoy doing a little bit of weeding in the garden from time to time.
It is set in a very beautiful and deserted valley full of olive tree
terraces. It's a 15 mins drive to Oleiros, a bustling market town with
lots of nice restaurants and a similar length drive to Alvaro where you can swim in the stunning river-lake of Cabril. You'd be staying in a large loft heated by a woodburning stove. The rest of the house has wood fired central heating and the kitchen has a woodburning range.
Own transport would be helpful.
We have wifi available for your use, but no TV.
This situation would probably suit people who don't need that much external stimulation and who love nature, and love peace and quiet. It's a good place to write a novel!
