We're looking for a house sitter (or couple) to spend some time in our house and look after our 2 dogs and 11 chickens and be there for our Holiday Let guests over the Christmas New Year 2014 holiday. We are away from the 27/12/14-6/1/15, but to make a longer break & ensure a good handover period, we will make our studio accommodation available to the house sitters either side of these dates. Kids and dogs have the run of our main home, so the sitters need to be comfy in a homely environment. Most importantly, they must be very confident and ideally experienced with bull breed dogs - our dogs are bull terriers, they are like big teddy bears and very loving, but they can be clumsy, stubborn, scary-looking to other people and not great with other dogs. They think they are lap-sized dogs, so you need to be able to cope on the sofa with a 70lb dog on your lap!
Enjoy our home and its location. Keep our dogs and chickens entertained, clean, happy, fed and warm. The dogs do not need walking (it's hard work - they must be walked on a lead), unless you wish to do it - they have an acre of ground to play in & will need a good romp in the garden a couple of times a day. They love human company, but they can be left for several hours at a time. We have holiday let guests arriving while we are away. The cottage will be prepared for them, but you will need to give them the keys and be able to answer any queries they may have (we will brief you before we leave).
While we are away you will stay in the beautiful old Victorian upper villa flat (our main home) and before and after our trip we can accommodate you in Tantah Studio (our newly-built self-contained studio flat above our garages). Write to us through MindMyHouse for a link to our Tantah Croft website and it will tell you everything you need to know.
We live about a mile outside the beautiful village of Peebles and are surrounded by open countryside. We have amazing views, have all mod-cons and direct access to stunning hill and forest walks from our garden.
We're less than an hour's drive from Edinburgh.
As mentioned earlier, they must be comfortable and confident with bull terriers (and chickens, I suppose). we are slightly out of town, a mile from the nearest supermarket, half a mile from the nearest shop, so must either enjoy walking/cycling or have access to a car and feel ok in a slightly isolated location (although we have good neighbours).
