We are looking for a mature, single woman who can take good care of and focus on our home and our fourteen year old Beagle and our three year old Chihuahua. We'd love to find someone who we could count on for this current house-sit as well as future short or long term house-sits if it worked out for everyone's mutual benefit. Please do not respond if you have a spouse or partner, pets or children of your own that you want to bring with you.
The most important responsibility for our sitter is to feed the dogs twice daily and let them out. Leo, the Beagle, doesn't need walking (too old), but does need a bit of love and reassurance from someone who has a gentle touch. Lola, the Chihuahua on the other hand, would strongly benefit from a daily walk. Responsibilities could also entail picking up after the dogs from their outside duties and very light housekeeping. This person would also have to be willing to be home during the evening at a reasonable hour as the dogs are especially habitual with having someone in their company at night.
The city of Mesa is bordered by both Phoenix and Tempe. It is an interesting mix for all ages with a lively downtown filled with coffee shops, restaurants, bars, shopping and a farmer's market. Some of the many activities that are available to visitors are hiking, rock-hunting, bird-watching, museum and botanical garden visiting.
Our apartment is a first floor unit with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It also includes all modern conveniences (dishwasher, washer & dryer). Although we do have wifi, we do not have cable.
We are located ten minutes or less to all major grocery chains, shopping and restaurants. Within the complex itself there are three swimming pools, a basketball court, a tennis court and grassy areas for our dogs to do their business. Some of the amenities included in the complex are a fitness center, a computer room and a clubhouse.
First of all, you will need to love dogs. Although our Chihuahua can be clingy, our dogs require very little attention. However, they still need to know that they are being watched over by someone who has genuine affection for them. While there is a local bus transportation, you may need a car. There is also a light rail that goes to and from the airport, to Phoenix or to Tuscon and is easily accessible from our apartment. You will need to be the kind of person who appreciates the city and suburban life. You will also need to enjoy warmer weather. It doesn't get truly hot until the Summer months but it is something to keep in mind. Please note that we ask you to not bring pets and/or children of your own along the trip unless it's been thoroughly discussed prior to the sit. Unfortunately, we aren't certain our pets would adapt well to other animals in their home.
