About this assignment

We need someone mature who can take good care of our cottage and our two old dogs. We do not want a smoker or anyone who has addictions of any type. We would prefer a single, older woman or someone who has demonstrated a mature attitude about taking care of pets.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The most important responsibility for our sitter is to feed the dogs twice daily and let them out. Neither dog needs walking (they are too old), but they do need a bit of love and reassurance from someone who has a gentle touch. Responsibilities could also require mowing a tiny yard, depending on the season (we have a battery operated mower) and very light housekeeping. This person would also have to be willing to be home during the evening at a reasonable hour as the dogs are especially not used to being alone at night.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our town is small, quiet and peaceful with solid, stable neighbors who are willing to help if and when necessary. We are located 1 1/2 hrs. southeast of the Twin Cities/Minneapolis & St. Paul with a local shuttle available. Rochester, MN is within 35 minutes of the cottage. The area is beautiful every season. It is surrounded by bluffs and valleys along the Mississippi with many small, scenic towns along both the MN and WI sides of the river. If you are interested in a quiet village type setting in God's country, then you will love it here.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

First of all, you will need to love dogs. Our dogs require very little attention, but still need to know that they are being watched over by someone who has a genuine affection for them. You may need a car. You will need to be the kind of person who appreciates small town life and the peace and quiet if offers. You will also need to enjoy nature and welcome all that it offers.
