We are looking for a confident, reliable person/couple, a dog-loving house sitter to care for Alfie, our German Shepherd & our two chickens for 5 nights end of March/early April
Your main responsibility is to care for Alfie, our 10 year old German Shepherd dog, you need to be confident & authoritive, as he is a big boy & has his quirky little ways. He lost his buddy over a year ago now but still seems to miss her company, so he loves company, and would be grateful of a walk once a day or a couple of short walks. I expect him to be kept on a lead or extendable lead, it is important that you adhere to this & I need to know I can trust you. He is a good boy, relatively obedient but will need someone who is of strong character, who will not be dragged around by him as he is a strong lad & has a few minor hang ups. He needs feeding twice a day & would appreciate a brush (out on your walk is ideal, but in the garden is fine too)
The chickens need minimal care, they can be easily be let out & put away from our front door, no need for wellie’s or chasing them around, and simply require a handful of pellets a day & some bread & milk a few times a day.
We live in a quiet cul-de-sac, and our neighbours are fab. We have a modest 4 bedroomed house, with central heating, WIFI, HD TV, dvd player, CD player, printer & scanner, fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher & washing machine.
We have fabulous valley walks on our doorstep, but if you hop in the car, you have the most amazing beaches to explore, from a 10-30 minute drive away plus coastal path, you will be spoilt for choice, Alfie loves the beach & we can direct you to his favourite haunts, if you are happy to have him in your car, you need to be aware that he likes to wallow in the water so may leave a little mess in your vehicle! However, if you would prefer not to have him in your car, we have plenty of walks available from the house.
We are a 10 minute stroll from the town of St Austell. We have the Eden Project on our doorstep, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and Truro is only 20 minutes by car for shopping or the cathedral.
I am very apprehensive about leaving Alfie because although he has frequented kennels, he always had his girlfriend for company, since her passing, he is understandably subdued so I need someone who will love him & look after him & put my mind at rest & in return we offer you our home as a base to explore our beautiful county that is Cornwall.
I would appreciate an email informing me of your previous experiences with dogs (preferably of the larger variety)
