3 horses, chickens and a gorgeous property in mountains of Western North Carolina

Dependable, good communication, experience with horses. Keeping an eye on property. It’s a truly wonderful property as it is a slice of heaven. Our horses are precious.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Horse care for 3 horses. Mare just had a colt on 4/28/24. Stall cleaning (hopefully that’s minimal because they are on pasture), feeding twice a day, water, grooming. Watching over property. Occasional but limited mowing. Feeding chickens and putting them up at night. We have help that will assist with some of these chores. Some weeding of garden would be a huge help.

What are the good features of the property and location

57 very private, pristine acres. Hiking trail around property that is over a mile long, orchard, a beautiful mix of woods and fields, hammock in orchard. We have grounds keeper that can help with some chores. Private guest house for house sitter. Vegetable garden.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We live about 15 minutes drive to town of Burnsville. Cute town, great grocery store, farmers market, restaurants. Also about 20 minutes to Spruce Pine. This area has many local artists, galleries and studios, waterfalls, clean swimming river, and hiking. About 40 minute drive to Mt. Mitchell. Tallest mountain east of Mississippi. Close to Blue Ridge Parkway. About 55 minutes to Asheville- an amazing small city filled with art, breweries and concerts, etc.
