Occasional house and pet sitter required

  • This house is in: United Kingdom, Seaford
  • Dates: variable

About this assignment

We have an Irish Wolfhound, a Great Dane, a Greyhound and seven, yes seven!, cats. Our pets have never been in kennels as they are part of our family and we are too soft! We need a house and pet sitter who is an absolute animal lover (and who obviously loves BIG dogs!) to look after our pets while we are away occasionally which could be anything from one/two nights to a week or even two weeks! Having so many animals (and not wanting to put them in kennels) is very restricting so our ideal scenario would be to have a local (or someone who doesn't mind travelling at short notice) person or couple for us to ring up and ask to pet sit. This would mean that we would be able to take our three poor children away on holiday and breaks!

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Responsibilities would be to care for our pets (and our house) as if they were your own. However, there is no walking of dogs to do because, although we walk them ourselves, they are too big and strong for anyone else to walk! Additionally, our Great Dane (who we rescued from a terrible life) hates other dogs so he is a nightmare to walk. This does mean that we could not accept a house sitter who would want to bring their own pets.

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in a detached house in Seaford which is on the south coast between Brighton and Eastbourne. Our house is 5 minutes' walk from the sea and the station. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We are going away for a couple of nights on 29 January. However, our neighbours are very willing to cover for this period if we don't find anyone. We really need someone (or a couple) who loves animals, who can cope with HUGE dogs, who loves cats, who is totally trustworthy and responsible and with whom we would be confident and happy to leave our animals. There must be someone out there who would like to have an odd few nights staying in a lovely town while looking after some nutty pets, even if just so they can go home being thankful that the animals aren't theirs - sort of like doting grandparents!
