What is house sitting?
Simply put, house sitting is the practice whereby a home owner, leaving their house for a period of time, entrusts it to one or more "house sitters", who by mutual agreement are entitled to live there rent-free in exchange for assuming responsibilities such as taking care of the homeowner's pets, performing general maintenance etc.

We're a small 'mom and pop' family business – our business ethos is about providing our members with an advertising free zone in which to find each other and meet up to do all that adventuring while house sitting worldwide. No sponsorship, or pictures of women laughing at salad on our site! We also believe in humans (no bots or AI).
Our glorious global online house sitting platform was officially born on 22 February 2005 – a whole 21 years ago now. Wow! And in that time, we have redesigned the site three times, so as to keep up with the times :)

Real adventures in amazing places ( Sitter)
We don’t know how they offer such an incredible service for such an affordable fee! These guys are the warm hearted adventurers of the house sitting world and we are so grateful for what they offer! We’ve been with MMH now since 2022 and are soon off for a winter in Southern Spain, we do this pretty much full time and it’s joyful life - to support others to travel too. If you are up for a real adventure in an amazing place with people who really care about life, animals, nature, then this is the site! We tend to get our longer sits here too which we much prefer. The site is very affordable - for people who have “cut loose” and living in a less restricted way - this really matters. Totally recommend them.

I love it! ( Dual)
I have used MMH as a sitter for years and more recently as a host. I love it! The platform is easy to use, the support team are helpful. The review system is two-way, which is much fairer than other platforms. I love getting notifications which match my needs!

Dear MindMyHousie’s, seasons greetings to you all. Susan and I also send you our best wishes for the new year of 2026. In this special seasonal edition of the MindMyHouse News, we are introducing a long awaited upgrade for house sitters and home owners: the Availability calendar for sitters and Date filtering for owners! We have also made a few other tweaks to the site: Sitters can now search assignments by more continents, and sitter alerts now include date searching. We also wanted to comment on the booking fees introduced by "you know who". Oh, and we have a new homepage design, and checkout the assignment annual heartbeat…
