I am a mature, responsible Finnish woman from Tuusula, Southern Finland. My home is my safe haven but at times, it’s good to get to someplace new. I have neither partner nor children and I’m used to travel alone. I have a background of living on a farm and I am used to take care of the house and animals.
Studying has been my way to explore the world. I studied economics in Switzerland, then law in Finland, and social sciences, education, special education, cultural anthropology, psychotherapy; free education in Finland... with every new job, I started a new study. Until I realised that the real understanding is an inside job and all things you need to know, come to you. Now I only allow and receive, and life is great.
I was born under a wandering star. Wheels are made for rolling and I love to explore foreign places. I love pets, but because of my active and mobile life style, just now, I don’t have any pets of my own, but I'll love yours as if they were mine. Tender love and care. I’m curious and love to go to new places and meet new people.
I have long experience with house maintenance. In my childhood family we had a dog, a boxer, tortoise, canaries, and I had 2 cats of my own. On our farm with my ex, we had sheep, geese, and ducks. I used to assist ewes lambing, and bottle feeded those the ewe rejected.
Christmas 2011 was my first actual house sitting assignment, in my native Finland, a beautiful experience with Evy the cat, and the second one 2012-2013 in Switzerland, near Neuchâtel, where I spent 6 weeks and took care of a lab, a cat, and fish.
My next assignment was in Bath, UK in September 2013, with Poppy the cat, and the next one in Männedorf, Switzerland, 1 month, with the spaniel, Sophy.
At Christmas 2015 I did a very interesting pet sitting on a farm, on the island La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain, for four weeks. I had a whole bunch of animals to look after and to take care of: two donkeys, two dogs, five cats, one bunny, chickens, gold fish and canarie.
Then was Uppsala, Sweden, where I met the border terrier Chloe. It was a cold and snowy Christmas and Chloe did not want to walk much outside so we stayed mostly inside and watched Netflix.
My two next assignments were in Brighton, UK, Christmas 2017/18 with Buster the cat, and in Dervio, Lake Como, Italy, in January/February 2018 with Agata the cat. All of them I loved and do miss. Then my darlings were two cockatiels and two parrots near Albi, Midi-Pyrénées, France. It always surprises me, how beautiful and rewarding it is to create a relationship from consciousness to consciousness, be it between a human and a parrot! You can always create mutual understanding and working communication. I am very grateful for all these experiences.
Then again in England, outskirts of Liverpool, the month of July 2018 with Oz, the lab. It was a hot July! Labs have such great characters, they are dogs with many talents. After that, few weeks in Edinburgh, Scotland, with Smidge, the terrier. (Btw, the unicorn is Scotland's national animal, but unfortunately, I saw only pictures...) Then again, I spent few days with my old friend Agata on Lake Como in Italy, and met new friends Mimi and Rodolfo, the ragdolls, on Lake Lugano, CH.
All my pet sitting experiences were great fun and enjoyed them. I was able to develop good communication with all the animals, even with the chickens (maybe less with goldfish though). Nostalgic and beautiful memories of them all.
See few testimonials below. You can also demand more information about me from previous pet owners by email, if needed.
I bring my experience, my care and love for your home and pets, my enthusiasm and openness to anything new. I’m flexible and adaptable, trustworthy and reliable, friendly and amiable. I'll take good care of your home and pets. I’m fluent in German, English, and Swedish, have basic knowledge of Spanish, and manage to communicate even in a language I don’t know. If there is a will, there is a way. Driver's licence. Non-smoker.
Just now I am looking for an assignment starting mid-April 2019 or thereafter. I’d be happy to hear from you!

Irma is such a a lovely lady. I felt at ease speaking to her from the get go. We spoke again a couple of times when I was able to answer any queries and also to provide Irma with infornation necessary for her stay. We met Irma in Liverpool and had a short window of time to introduce her to Oz and our home. Irma even brought a gift for Oz to play with...SO kind! Irma was very confident and put my mind at rest immediately. Irma continued to send updates during the sit and some pictures. Unfortunately, there was an escape of water in the kitchen during Irma stay...not her fault (!) but I was able to deal with this and have someone visit to fix it and Irma was extremely capable in my absence. Irma is extremely calm, cool and collected. Oz enjoyed her company and walks each day. Irma looked after my dog, home and garden very well. I am more than happy to recommend Irma for your sitter.
I live near Albi in France. Irma came to mind my 2 parrots and 2 parakeets for three weeks during the time I was away. I must say that it is complicated to mind birds that are fragile and very emotional; the cages need daily cleaning and the birds are fed twice a day. It is a demanding job. Irma did very well; she managed to be accepted by the birds. When I came back home the house was clean and the birds healthy. Irma is dependable and trustworthy. She loves animals.
she spent 3 weeks at my home on Lake Como. I recommend her because she is a very kind and respectful person and she left my home in good condition. it was my first experience with a house sitter and now i can say that i'm glad to chose her. i think... my cat is missing her!
Irma spent two weeks over Christmas 2017 at our home in Brighton, UK, looking after our senior cat. In the weeks before our holiday, she was very responsive to emails and had plenty of questions about our cat, so she seemed responsible and keen to take good care of Buster. This was especially important as he has some minor medical concerns and would require somewhat more care than the average cat. Due to our flight schedules, we were not able to meet Irma, but felt comfortable having her in our home due to the police report and references provided. She updated us a few times during our trip and before leaving emailed a thorough report about Buster's medical issues, his unusual behaviour, their interactions, and so on. We were very pleased to have this information, as previously having once-a-day sitters left us wondering what Buster was up to while we were away. When we have left him alone with a daily 20-30 minute pet sitting visit, Buster was withdrawn and upset upon our return. With Irma staying with him, however, he was glad to see us and perfectly content. Furthermore, Irma left our home in good condition, took in our mail, watered our plant, and generally maintained the flat while we were away. We would highly recommend her services to those interested in finding a responsible, reliable, cat-loving person for pet and house sitting.
