About this sitter

We are looking for a one- to two-month house sit from Hawaii to the Caribbean to the Mediterranean and beyond. We are a healthy, fit pair of professional writers (and homeowners) who have taken care of pets and homes in a wide variety of locales. As long as there is a high-speed Internet connection and room to set up our laptops, we can work just about anywhere. We are especially interested in sits on islands: Canarias, Azores, Sardinia, Malta, Sicily, Croatia, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Guadeloupe, and others.

Why they want to house sit

We are avid travelers but not yet fully retired. As well as writing for corporate clients, we write and provide photos for travel articles. We find that spending a month or more in a destination allows us to more fully immerse ourselves and explore the area and get to know the people. Since we engage a house sitter for our California home and cat while we're away, it's a way of reciprocating the care we expect.

We've traveled and house-sat many times caring for pets, gardens, and homes in places as diverse as Panama, Micronesia, the Bahamas, the Spice Islands, Ecuador, Malta, and the US. We have sterling letters of reference, some through this site and others as well.

What can they bring to the assignment

Taking care of your home will come naturally to us, as we are conscientious homeowners ourselves.You won't need to pay us as we both have remote work and are financially stable. Your home and yard will be kept clean as we are neat and tidy people who enjoy taking care of a home, both inside and out (I'm an avid gardener). We are both healthy active people who don't smoke or do drugs. We've lived on small islands and in other countries, so we understand the solitude and cultural differences that come with international life. We are a mature couple with excellent driving records, credit reports, and house-sitting references. We love animals and have taken care of dogs, cats, parrots, deer, toucans, and more. We are comfortable communicating with staff from cleaning people and gardeners to contractors and repair people. We're self-reliant, but also happy to be in frequent contact if that's your preference.
