About this sitter
I am a freelance translator (53 years old), which means, that I can work just about anywhere, as long as there is an Internet access. Because I live in Berlin, I miss the country from time to time, as I love plants and animals probably more than people. I speak English, French, a little Italian and a little Spanish.
Why they want to house sit
It's a wonderful opportunity to spend time in different surroundings and different countries. I especially miss the country life because I am happiest when I can dig in the soil and plant or grow something. I find a change of place from time to time very rewarding and inspiring.
Their experience
I have done a house swap twice with a couple from Barcelona/Mallorca. It went very well and we became good friends. I also spent two months in Andalusia at an olive finca helping with the animals and the house and garden there.
Another house sitting assignment brought me to Normandy, looking after two dogs, a donkey, a billy goat and a couple of hens. Owners and animals said they would be happy to have me back.
Christmas 20I4 I went back to Andalusia and last Christmas I went there again as the lady of the house, her dog and her cat kindly asked me to come back.
In the summer of 2015 I was asked to sit a little dog, a three-coloured cat and a few cheeky hens on La Gomera for five weeks. The water system was quite a challenge at the beginning but we mastered it and it was a wonderful adventure for all of us. So my "career" as a housesitter seems to be taking off :)
This year I and my partner went to Holland, which was very nice and now we've just come back from Andalusia where we met my old friends Maltby and Freya (this was the 4th housesitting with them).

Katharina had all the qualities you would hope for in someone looking after your home and pets, responsible, respectful and clearly a very warm and loving person that will look after you pets with great care. It was a pleasure meeting Katharina and her partner Ludwig, we enjoyed a meal, good conversion and an evening stroll together the night before our departure. Communication was excellent whilst we were away, I could completely relax knowing the cats were in good hands. Returning home to a lovely clean and cared for home was such a treat, Katharina even left us lots of presents, wine, a card and coffee : ) and Ludwig brought us a selection of delicious German beers : ) I can't recommend Katharina more highly if you would like to enjoy a care free trip knowing your home is in good hands. Katharina has looked after our property and our dog and cat twice over the last few years. She is delightful and very thoughtful. The animals loved her and I was very happy with them and our property on my return from my travels. Also every time that I returned from a rather long journey she would have supper ready for me which was bliss! I would recommend her very highly .

Conscientious and caring
Katherina looked after our animals, including a donkey, cats, a goat, chickens and two dogs, in a caring manner. We could see that everybody was settled and happy. The house was immaculate and she even planted some bulbs for us, something we hadn't expected. Katherina is a first rate house sitter and I'm happy to recommend her.
