About this sitter
I'm a 51 year old female ESL teacher originally from New Zealand, but now based in the UK (and with EU citizenship). I've spent the last 20 years teaching in various exotic parts of the world, laying the groundwork for a network of online students.
I'm looking for a house sit where I (preferably) have some affectionate animals for company and where I can indulge my passion for outdoor activities.
Why they want to house sit
In addition to the obvious advantage that house sitting allows me to get to know places in a far more personal way than I could by staying in hotels or hostels - a great travel experience from a local perspective! I started my online teaching business in earnest a while ago so I have the option of seeing other interesting parts of the world and taking my work with me.
Their experience
I returned to the UK a few years ago after finishing a teaching contracts in Moscow and Beijing. Before that I had four consecutive housesitting assignments in Darwin, Australia while lecturing part-time at the local university.
I've also had a 5 week assignment in Turkey, following six months in North America, where I had house sits without pets in British Columbia and Montreal for 7 and 4 weeks respectively, followed by a three week detour down to Louisiana to look after a cat and elderly dog, then back up to Canada again for a 10 week assignment near Vancouver.
All of my recent sits have been in the UK due to the pandemic.
What can they bring to the assignment
I'm a mature, responsible, personable (but not particularly social) professional who would treat every house as I do my own. At this stage of my life, I'm happy with my own company or that of animals - particularly those that entice me away from the laptop on a regular basis!
Because I'm trying to maintain a student base for my online business, I'd behave like a working professional (not just someone there on holiday) and would be at home providing company for your pets most of the time :)

A wonderful housesitter
Andrea was a wonderful housesitter and a great friend to my cat. She was extremely tidy, looked after the place and even left fresh milk in the fridge for when I was back. Reliable, kind, and accommodating cat sitter in Paris
We were delighted to have Andrea catsit for us in July-August 2024. She took very good care of our cat, Naomi, and was prompt and spontaneous in updating us about her. It was a relief for us to receive frequent updates and pictures of our cat relaxing on her favourite blanket next to Andrea - Naomi was clearly very comfortable and well taken care of in our absence. We have no hesitation in recommending her
Andrea arrived two days before we left which meant there was lots of time to get to know Horace and Ernie and acquaint herself with the house and surrounding area. She dealt very calmly with a major domestic drama that was completely beyond her control. She stayed on for a further couple of days on our return and it was clear that both dogs absolutely adored her. She kept the house spick and span. Totally recommend Andrea
We met Andrea before we left for our trip. She was very personable and seemed very confident and capable. The cats both took to her straight away, so we had no worries about leaving her to look after the cats and our house while we were away. The house and garden were well looked after ( despite the hot dry weather), and the cats were both happy and healthy on our return. Andrea is a very experienced house sitter and settled in well at our house. She looked after our remaining chicken and watered our garden so that everything was in good shape when we came back from an extended stay away. She managed our post for us and kept us up to date with what was happening at home. We had some interesting talks about her travels abroad and she was very easy to get along with. Very grateful
Andrea was very flexible and ended up staying longer than I originally requested as I had the option to be away longer. I was very grateful for this and for the care and attention she provided to my cat. The house was well looked after and plants were watered. She even cut my grass. I would not hesitate to have Andrea house sit for me again.

Fantastic house sitter
Andrea has been a fantastic house sitter. Going away for over 3 months, it is important to have someone who cares well for our pets (cats, horses) and the house and Andrea did exactly that. She is very good with animals and the house was well looked after and clean and tidy when we returned. Andrea communicates well and responds timely on emails. We also had twice weekly FaceTime calls to check in and answer any questions or deal with things that came up. This worked well. We would recommend Andrea as a house sitter.

Really attentive
Andrea is excellent, her wide experience making her adaptable & responsive. She managed our cottage and high energy dog for 4 months giving us complete peace of mind. She is organised, in touch by email, phone and great Zoom calls. She anticipated Covid delays to our schedule with excellent contingency plans, dealt with tradesmen and was well-liked by our neighbours. While we had a gardener, Andrea maintained an array of pot plants. Our young collie can be hard to handle but we called Andrea our dog whisperer! He was thoroughly exercised, Andrea had dealt with ticks from the summer grasses & extended his training. He was clearly incredibly fond of her while also giving us a huge welcome home. We would welcome Andrea again & regard her as a friend as well as a valued professional resource.

Pleasant and reliable
In December 2020 I was looking for a house sitter and fortunately, Andrea was able to fulfill the role at very short notice. Her communication was great, the whole process of her getting settled in was a breeze. As I was pleased with Andrea for the initial month, I was happy for her to stay on past Winter. The main responsibilities were to keep the property secure and to maintain the back patio area. She was also willing to carry out a few other chores (e.g. redirecting letters, fitting a new smoke alarm, and taking various deliveries). She has been fantastic at providing useful updates and is very aware of her surroundings. Andrea is a very pleasant and reliable sitter, I will definitely be pleased to have her sit again.

A great sitter
Andrea was a great sitter for our house and cats. She got on with the job without any fuss. We pre-agreed communication frequency and she contacted us as soon as she thought there may have been a problem with one of the cats. He was fine thank goodness. On our return the house was clean and well looked after. I appreciated Andrea's independence and ability to work things out and let us enjoy our holiday in peace. Andrea, who has just been house sitting for us for two weeks, looked after our house and pets beautifully.
