About this sitter
We are a very active retired couple in our seventies
Some years ago we sold our beautiful nursery of mainly rare perennials and roses.
At that time we had 2 cats, but when they got old and died we decided not to take cats again because we could not give them enough attention as we had our nursery and not enough time for them.after our retirement we wanted to travel, so no cats. However, since some time there is a cat in the neighbourhood, who has chosen our house and the house of our neighbours as hers.
So when we are not at home she has another home. That is a nice solution for us.
We also like dogs, and look after them with great pleasure. Nis had several dogs in the past.
So cats and dogs are more than welcome to look after, but not exclusively. In general we like small animals. A flock of sheep however, is a bit too much for us.
As gardeners it is no problem to keep your garden in order. Mareike still works in gardens as a volunteer and designs gardens and borders .
We like gardening, walks in the countryside, culture and cooking.
Why they want to house sit
It is nice to be in different surroundings.. Besides, it is an economical way to see something of the world.
Their experience
We have done several housesitting arrangements in Holland and other countries. We already looked after dogs, cats and chicken in Irland,(there we looked after 13 cats( witch was a big experience),Great Brittain, Spain, Switserland, France.
We also do house-exchange, and sometimes there is also a cat and chicken to watch.
What can they bring to the assignment
We are experienced caretakers. We will take care of your properties and livestock a if it are our own. We are non-smokers. We speak French, German and English and have our own transport.

Mareike and Nis Biermans
Nis and Mareike arrived as arranged - after a bit of difficulty with the plane.. They had, obviously, acquainted themselves with the Welcome Pack I had provided and quickly and efficiently managed the routine of organising the 'inside' and 'outside' cats who soon became familiar with them. I have kittens and they enjoyed playing with them as did the kittens! All the cats seemed to be happy and relaxed in their care and they themselves seemed to enjoy being with the cats. i had left a load of logs for my wood burner but, unfortunately, many of them proved to be far too big to fit in the fire. I tried various contacts to come and chop them smaller but no one was available. Nis resolved the problem by searching the shops for a 'super' axe with which he was able to chop the logs. smaller. I was very grateful to him for showing his initiative as it was very cold. Mareike and Nis were very competent and reliable and took care of all the cats very well. I was happy to leave them in their care and would be happy to have them again.

Marieke & Nis house sat for me over Christmas/ new year 2016/17. They looked after my house and cats very well, and left the house clean. They are reliable house-sitters and I have asked them to come back and look after things for me next year .I would happily recommend them. David Hamp
