About this sitter
Hi, we are an early retired couple (just turned 68), reliable, clean and quiet, love spending winters in the mountains or near the water. We downhill ski, snowshoe, hike and golf. We are dog people but are also knowledgeable and happy to care for other pets, including horses.
Why they want to house sit
As early retiree's, paying large sums for hotels or rentals is not part of the plan, especially for the whole winter. Besides, caring for and enjoying a home and community is so much more rewarding.
Their experience
Yes, we are currently sitting 2 Vizlas in Florida. We house sat just south of Penticton several winters ago, for 4 months, caring for 3 horses. We sat in Golden BC, for 3 weeks, looking after 3 horses and 2 dogs. (Please see the testimonials from both sits.) We've traveled the world, so are comfortable in new surroundings, and have owned our own homes for >30 years, so are savy about home maintenance and care. Luba has ridden, owned and cared for horses most of her life and we've always had pets and love animals in all shapes and sizes.
What can they bring to the assignment
Reliability, responsibility, honesty, cleanliness, good communication skills. Chris is a P.Eng. Luba was an IT Project Manager and is certified as a Landscape Architect Technician. We both love being outdoors. I (Luba) even love to shovel snow, believe it or not. Luba speaks some German.

We consider Chris and Luba friends after spending nearly 6 months planning with them to house sit and dog sit our 2 Vizslas for 60 days while we traveled to New Zealand and Australia. This was an extended sit and we could not have traveled with such peace without Luba and Chris caring for our dogs and our home. At no time during our trip did we feel unsure of our home and dogs. Here's what sets Chris and Luba as the gold standard for house and dog sitting. Pre-Dog Sit 1. Communication: Luba and Chris communicated with us prior to them arriving to our home. We discussed their arrival timeframe, house responsibilities and dog care needs. Luba is highly organized (so too is Chris) and her attention to detail is exceptional. 2. Planning: Luba and Chris asked important questions about the dogs and house. They kept us informed of their travel plans and coordinated their every step with our plans. They arrived as planned and we spent a couple of nights with Luba while Chris drove from Canada to Florida. House and Dog Sit 3. Caring: Luba connected immediately with Lincoln and Laila and as Chris did as well. We receive pictures for them taking the dogs to the state park, dog beach, and other nature preserve parks. In some ways, the dogs had more fun with Luba and Chris than they have with us. 4. Reliable: We never had any doubts about selecting Chris and Luba to care for our dogs. They monitored any slight medical issues (hives for 1 dog) and would communicate with us at appropriate intervals. They solved any problems and simply reported to us what the issue was and the remedy. It was a refreshing experience for us to know Luba and Chris were running the show back home and we could enjoy our travel experiences. They had a tire repaired on my car prior to my arrival. Post-Dog Sit 5. We returned home and found the house in exactly the same order as we had left it--it was a bit surreal. It was as if we had never left. House was immaculate. Plants healthy. Dogs happy and healthy. I would be more than willing to write a reference letter for them or speak with a homeowner. Rick and Jackie

Excellent housesitters - couldn't get better
This was the 1st time that we have used a house sitter to mind our 3 horses and 2 dogs while we went away for 3 weeks. We could not have chosen better, Luba and Chris we so good to our animals, not only doing the basics but also taking the dogs for long walks, brushing them and the horses, giving lots of extra attention and doing the manure daily. The house was left immaculate, scones were made for our return, the sheets were changed and nothing was amiss or missing. Luba kept in almost daily contact via email, keeping me informed about all the coming and goings and general daily life. They were the absolute perfect couple, definitely 5 star. I'd have them back, no hesitation.

Raised the bar!!
We had the pleasure of having Luba and Chris (and their beautiful dog, River) stay at our acreage during the winter of 2016/2017. They were without a doubt the best couple we have had house site for us in the past 6 years we have been travelling. We have 3 horses that were in their care and one of them had an injury. Luba was quick to contact me, had her vetted and cared for her daily until she healed. Chris is very handy and took care of repairs around the home. The house and property were left in immaculate condition upon their departure. We would love to have them come and stay again!
