About this sitter
My husband and I are retired Professors. We have been expatriates for over 30 years, living and working in Japan, The Philippines, Brazil and Thailand. We speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Thai and some Cambodian. Over the years we have owned a total of 12 cats and three dogs. We are pet friendly and plant friendly. We have valid driver's licenses and can drive a stick shift. We are both published writers and film producers.
Why they want to house sit
We are recently retired. We have always lived overseas, and we want to continue to experience new places both in the states and overseas. We are looking for places to settle, and until we do that, we want to travel and live in various locations.
Their experience
We have lived and worked all over the world, in many different countries and cultures. We are good with pets and plants and pools and gardens. We have house sat in Spain, Nicaragua, the British Virgin Islands, Portugal, California, Oregon and other locations. We are very comfortable living in rural locations, developing countries, cities and farms. Between us we speak Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Thai.

"I would happily recommend Laurie and Steven.
They stayed at my home in Nicaragua for nearly a month (May 2017) and took excellent care of 2 dogs and a puppy who all reside outside the house. Laurie and Steven interacted with and paid my gardener each week plus provided him with daily refreshments. He really enjoyed their attention and that they spoke Spanish.
Laurie or Steven emailed me a brief report almost daily and alerted me to any maintenance issues and kept track of any details/payments/bills so it was very easy for my return.
We communicated prior to their arrival - and they were able to accommodate my schedule to arrive a few days early so I could provide them a thorough explanation of my home/dogs/gardens, etc...
The house and gardens were in good order and they thoughtfully had a meal prepared for my arrival which we shared.
They are a mature educated tranquil couple who take great pride in their house / pet care assignments. I wouldn't hesitate to invite them to return to my home to care for my dogs, home and gardener.

Thoroughly reliable and good communicators
Laurie and Steve were very patient when my car broke down on the way to the airport to collect them and they were left stranded for a couple of hours after the airport closed. They kept in contact regularly which was great and Neil, my husband returned to a lovely clean house and happy pets. I understand they enjoyed the sit and got on very well with the pets, even when Sugar cat brought them a little furry present.

Wonderful couple
So glad to have met these two wonderful and fascinating people. They are very experienced and caring house sitters. Our dear dog Azula got the best and longest, and most consistent walks in her life. Being friendly and bilingual, they fit right into the local community and engaged with neighbors and local business. All and all, we came back to a very happy cat and some very happy dogs. Highly recommended.;)

Wonderful cat/house sitters
Laurie and her husband were so easy to communicate with and send us lots of messages with pictures of our kitty while we were away. They also let us know about packages and neighbors stopping by. We came home to a sparkling home! We were so glad to have them house/cat sit for us and will absolutely be asking for them again!

Wonderful House Sitters!
Laurie and Steven are a lovely couple who took wonderful care of our dog Flash while we were on holiday recently. They enjoy hiking and took our very energetic dog on many long walks in the local area. They are a very interesting couple who have travelled extensively and we thoroughly enjoyed our time before and after our holiday with them. Our son recently relocated to New York and on her return to America, Laurie introduced herself to him and spent an evening with friends at the cocktail bar he runs in New York. She also sent us a photo of them together, a lovely gesture! We would be very happy towelcome them back to Campelinho anytime!
