About this sitter
We are a married couple in our late early sixties. I have dual British and Dutch nationality, and my husband is Dutch. We lived in Amsterdam for 30 years and in 2021 moved to Nijmegen. I teach English as a second language and my husband is a retired biology teacher. In December 2021 we acquired our own pet, Tuppence, a mini Jack Russell. She is very good in the house, has been spayed and is well socialised. She may or may not come on house-sits with us, depending on suitability.
We love travelling and natural surroundings and animals so ideally we are looking to house sit in a rural location. As my family and friends come from Herefordshire/Welsh border that area is of particular interest to us but we are also interested in other parts of the UK, Europe and if it feels right also further afield.
Why they want to house sit
We always use Airbnb/house-sitting or home exchange when we travel, preferring the feeling of being one of the locals rather than staying in an impersonal hotel. Some of our home exchange partners have become friends. We are both animal lovers and enjoy the company of pets so that is an added attraction for home-sitting. Saving money is a pleasant side effect but absolutely not the main reason we want to home sit. We have our own mortgage-free home in Nijmegen.

What can they bring to the assignment
I grew up on a smallholding so have experience looking after cats, dogs, ponies/horses/donkies, sheep, ducks and chickens. I show-jumped under BSJA rules from the ages of 11-18. Now I ride monthly at a school near the Veluwe, so am experienced and feel comfortable around well-mannered horses.
My husband is a keen and knowledgeable gardener. He is also very good at fixing stuff and has been known to mend TVs, toasters, freezers, dishwashers you name it he approaches it with his Dutch pragmatism and figures it out.
We remain calm in a crisis and will always act in the best interest of your pet.

Perfect House Guests
Angela and Frank made our lives very easy. The house was in perfect order when we returned, they kept us informed of any news and they were clear on their arrival and departure times. One of our cats had to go to the vets during their stay and she needed medication after; this was all handled brilliantly! They are excellent and we'd certainly not hesitate in calling on their services again. If they are sitting for you consider yourselves very lucky!

Superb housesitters
Everything you could ask for in housesitters! Angela and Frank are a delightful couple who are friendly, reliable and great around the house. This is the second time they have house sat for us, and we would have no hesitation in inviting them again for future periods when we are away. Simpson the cat gets lots of love and attention and Frank always manages to mend something around the house when he's here! Communication is excellent and we know that they will sort any problems out should they occur. Highly recommended.

Absolutely recommended!!
As the last of our grown up children has only just left home, this is the first time we have ventured into using housesitting. We were mindful of just how much trust we would need to invest to be able to hand over the care of our cat and house to strangers. However, in our lead in communication and as soon as we met them, we hit it off with Angela and Frank and felt re-assured from the start. It was easy to sort out the practicalities and quirks of house and cat management from the smart and experienced questions they asked when they arrived and the communication between us during the 3 weeks we were away was open, informative, warm and pretty spot on. Not only did we return to a relaxed cat, spotless house, well maintained garden, and a lovely welcome back card and vase of flowers on the kitchen table, we are still finding little notes which show the hidden extra mile things that got done whilst we were away. Angela and Frank interesting, thoughtful, well travelled people who we are very pleased to have met and would absolutely recommend. We will be keeping in touch for future house sits and/or house exchange.

Angela and Frank
Angela and Frank came to us this summer for two weeks to take care of our house and garden in Wales, but most importantly, our two elderly dogs; a 15 year old lurcher and a 12 year old ex-racing greyhound. Their communications both before they arrived, and while we were away, were excellent, at no time did we have any concerns. On our return the house was tidy, the dogs were happy and Angela and Frank had coped well with a temperamental boiler, and various tradesmen. I would be happy to ask them again, and equally happy to recommend them to you.

Couldn't have asked for anything more!!
We have a mouse-loving cat, mega lawns, lots of plant nurturing, highly temperamental gardening machinery and a holiday let to manage on top of everything else. As a result, we're always a bit nervous about handing it over to sitters. Angela and Frank were marvellous. They kept us up to speed over the 4 weeks we were away (but only when strictly necessary). They handled a slightly tricky couple of guests with great diplomacy. The house and gardens looked much better on our return than they would have done if we'd stayed at home! Full marks all round: highly recommended!
