Hello Homeowners seeking the “Above and Beyond”.

We are a married couple, both 73 years young and in good health. Enjoying retirement but far from tired. We anticipate and look forward to ongoing experiences and exploration of the exciting world around us. Location is not a major issue. Mind My House seems to offer the opportunities we seek.

Home Minding ventures for us began with requests to care for homes & pets of acquaintences. In 2016, we learned about Housesitting sites...and have since become Full Time house and pet sitters. We have the greatest respect for others’ property and cleanliness of our environment is essential to our peace of mind. You can rest assured that your home and pets will be well cared for throughout your absence. Currently we have no pets of our own, but have enjoyed our own in the past, and we have loved and cared for those of others including dogs, cats, horses, chickens, or whatever you may have.

Lorraine is originally from the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. She grew up in a rural farming lifestyle and has operated powerboats and served as a member of Search and Rescue Team for many years. Retired from 40 plus years working as a Psychiatric Nurse. Her most recent posting was as Mental Health Consultant in rural Yukon, based out of Dawson City, Yukon.

James was born in Toronto and moved across Canada following career advancement opportunities, working 25 plus years in sales, marketing, and management. He also has experience running a very successful home based business. Four years exposure to wilderness living including setting up and maintaining mining exploration camps in Yukon and NWT, followed by 4 years as a wilderness guide based in Dawson City. This has enabled him to hone his knowledge and confidence in a non-reliant setting. These experiences have instilled common sense when it comes to problem solving.

These traits have enabled us to deal with variety as a couple, being equally supportive of one another. We both cherish the quiet peacefulness of self-sufficiency and limited or off the grid type living yet we are also comfortable in urban settings. We have both done significant travel throughout the USA and the Caribbean.

Why they want to house sit

To give people peace of mind and confidence during their absence, that their home and pets are lovingly cared for.

Their experience

You Bet.....we have now completed 57 Housesits over the past 9 years! We have done home and farm animal/pet care for periods of a couple of weeks to many months. Comfortable attending to minor injuries to horses, dogs, cats...but ready to call for vet advice when a problem is more major.
We spent the winter of 2016/17 on a ranch in BC Cariboo which is "off grid", so required attention to solar system and keeping wood fires burning day and night when temperatures were very cold, and where we had responsibility of horses and cows.
Over the years, much of our time has been spent on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands caring for horses, dogs & backyard farm animals. We have travelled across Canada on 3 occasions, numerous sits in the Prairie provinces, and did one lengthly sit in Texas.
Previous life and employment experiences have groomed us to be capable of dealing with any number of situations which may arise.

What can they bring to the assignment

Loving care to homes, pets, the environment and all that means everything to the owners during their absence.
We readily keep in contact with homeowners during their absence so that they can be confident that everything is well and good on the home front.
