I am a very energetic (semi) retired business lady. Born in Scotland and brought up in SA and Zimbabwe. I also spent (13) years in California. Being an avid golfer, and being used to hot climates, I tend to spend a few winter months in the south of France ( golfing). My sister and I share a house in Surrey and being reasonably close to London (Heathrow) means that she gets a lot of overseas visitors hence the reason I decided to take up house-sitting as my work ( stockmarket trader) involves quite a bit of reading and therefore requires a modicum of quiet We have had pets/dogs in our homes for many many years and since we lost our two beautiful cocker spaniels to age, and due to all the travelling, they have not been replaced. Our resue cat who we raised from tiny seems to have wandered off to discover the big wide world, hopefully when he is hungry or has seen enough and decides he is better off at home then he will return. So until we are in a position to replace our pets then I am in a position to enjoy everyone elses. As I am single and have no children to look after, there has never been a reason why, once a date/s have been agreed, for me to cancell on a client. I am a non-smoker. I read a lot and if my Sit involves dogs, then getting out for a long walk brings a lovely balance to my day!!. The cats & kittens I have the pleasure of Sitting for are always amongst the most fascinating as you very seldom are able to know what they will be up to next. And like all the different animals I have Sat for, they are super great company for me during my work day. I am very comfortable with my own company so it is not a problem for me to be in the house with the pets for most of the time. I am by nature very tidy. And love a night at the telly with the pets. And if they are allowed up on the sofa then I can assure you there will always be a lap or two on offer!!!!
I was spending a few winter months in France (south) so as I could continue with my golf. So could not see the point in keeping on an apartment in England that was not being used. Plus I have been travelling all my life and MindMyHouse is an excellent opportunity to experience other countries. I also get to meet loads of lovely people who are more than willing to share their gorgeous pets with me.
I would like to think that having looked after my own dogs/cats for most of my life and caring for their needs in every way, then yes I consider myself experienced. As up until our last two beautiful cocker Spaniels passed away they always seemed very very happy and always in good health. Infact I loved them so much when I moved to America I took them with. I have, over the last 6 years been house/pet sitting continually & I absolutely love it. Infact I believe it is the only way to travel!!!! Working from home means lots of company for any pets I am looking after & being able to stop & play & cuddle them always brings a lovely balance into my day. I have also at times been asked to administer medication & I am very comfortable with that. I am very good & keeping to instructions put forth by all home/pet owners, be it for their home or their pets. I am also very happy to send off messages & pics just for peace of mind. So, yes, I consider mysef very experienced.
I would like to think that reliability would be a key factor as once the homeowner has booked their holiday that it would be of great peace of mind for them to be reassured that the dates agreed upon would be fullfilled & that the pets would be very well looked after & not be left unattended. That has never been a problem for me as I myself (like most people) do not like to be let down. And as stated above, we loved our animals and miss them very much so I would like to think that all pets would be cared for in the best possible way and that I can give them the love and companionship needed to comfort them in your absence. Looking after the security of the home is very important, but I would say that the pets are my first priority, and always will be. I am a very focused person and once I take on an assignment (be it house/pet sitting or my businessess) it is my sole objective to make sure that the ( client/home-owner) is happy with the results. And it would appear that I have the references to back that up. Most of them are on another housesitting website but I would be more than happy to point you too.

A first class carer!
Patricia has just completed a 4 week house sit for us. She kept us regularly updated with photos and commentary about our cat and we were able to totally relax in the knowledge that all was well at home. She has a great affinity with animals and she will do everything she can for them. When our fussy eating cat went off his food she prepared special meals for him, lent him her favourite jumper to sit on and set up an arrangement of garden chairs and umbrellas so that he could enjoy the sun at different times of the day! We cannot recommend Patricia highly enough. She is a first class carer!
