About this sitter
Jane and Johan (66 & 72) are planning a new life as fit "pensionados" for the next couple of years. Johan was an urban planner and manager for the government in the Netherlands and Jane was self-employed in computer services. We retired early and went to Canada to run a campground in the Rockies. We learned a lot and we can say we are a very experienced couple now -- and a very good team!
After 7 years in Canada we want a new challenge in Europe. We love to be busy in and around the house and we both love animals, cats and dogs. So care taking is a logical step for us. We will accept all kinds of work, whether working with people or with our hands, technical or general maintenance. We are both very customer friendly people and good in making people feel at home.
Johan is further a ski instructor and has several sports hobbies (tennis, soccer, motorcycle). He can assist in sports activities and can do handy technical support and general maintenance jobs.
Jane has a sports massage certificate and is a great cook too. Her skills are in (computer) administration, she is an organiser and very good in all kinds of housekeeping.
We already had housesitting assignments in Spain, England, Austria and Switzerland. We sure like this new project!

Why they want to house sit
Spending time and be useful in our favorite areas in Europe, like Spain, England, Scotland. Stay there like a local, not as a tourist. We speak English and German fluently, French will do too. Spanish just a little bit but ok. We like to learn or improve our language skills too.
Their experience
Yes, we spent 7 years in Canada running a campground. After that we did several -12- housesitting assignments: 4 times in Ronda, Spain (winters 2016-17-18). And four times in England (summers 2017, 2018, 2019). The winter season of 2018-2019 we have been in Austria and Switzerland. And after that in Arenas, Spain, first in 2019 and now in 2021 again, since we are fully vaccinated against Covid-19!

Perfect house-sitters
We've used mindmyhouse house-sitters at least a dozen times now and nearly all have been good but Johan and Jane have raised the bar a good couple of notches! We couldn't have asked for better, friendlier or more considerate sitters if we'd used a professional agency and paid through the nose. On our return from nearly 3 weeks away we found the house was immaculate and sparkly clean, the pets in great condition (and not a little sad to see Johan and Jane leave) and even the roses had been pruned and the leaves raked and swept away. Jane even found time to clean out our fridge! Huge thanks!!
