I am a freelance writer from Texas, specializing in travel articles for magazines. I retired six years ago from a top management position with a non-profit organization. I love to hike, kayak, cook and write, plus an avid birdwatcher, photographer and archaeology amateur.
I am a traveler, not a tourist. To truly experience a place takes time, therefore living there as a house sitter gives me an opportunity to learn more intimately about the area I wish to write about. Since I spend an average of six months each year traveling, house sitting also helps in stretching my travel budget. But the best part about housesitting, is making new friends.
I have owned a home for most of my live, therefore understand the issues of managing a house and grounds. My permanent home is cabin on an acre of land in east Texas in a gated community, making it easier to leave the house for traveling. I enjoy gardening and maintain my own yard, plus care for many plants in my home plus have my own pets and have lots of experience with dogs and cats.
Peace of Mind. I will care for your home like it was my own. I speak basic Spanish, but am an expert with Google translate. References will be provided upon request.

Fantastic housesitter
Good luck finding anyone as conscientious. Kept on top of the happenings of all the animals on our property. Followed through on loving on our beloved doggo. Would gladly do a repeat! Honest, level headed, doting, clean and neat.

The best sitter ever!
Cynthia was so easy to communicate with both prior to our meeting and during our vacation. She is so very friendly and we had no fears whatsoever that our 3 dogs would be well loved and cared for. She is very honest and trustworthy, and she even baked and left all sorts of goodies in our freezer. We would have her back in a heartbeat and truly hope she will consider sitting for us in the future.

A Caring and Considerate Addition to Our Extended Family
Ann Bush house-sat for us June 25th – August 16th, 2017 in Costa Rica, and we found her to be just what we needed. Good with the pets, flexible and considerate, and a good house-mate when we were house sharing and not out traveling. She enjoyed her bird-watching, photography, researching birds, and writing travel articles in the guest quarters --we hardly knew she was there, But, we also enjoyed Ann’s company for dinner and throughout the day—lots of good travel stories and adventures to share. Ann is well traveled and has lived in several countries abroad, so she is comfortable and confident when traveling and managing new situations; but she is also aware of the extra care required when traveling in Central or South America (and now, all over the world)! Ann was tidy and helped keep the house straight, everything was clean when we returned, Ann kept Chelsey the retriever happy with play and on walks, and the 2 cats bonded quickly with Ann. Ann is learning Spanish and was able to communicate with our worker, but as a frequent visitor to Colombia, she wants to develop her Spanish skills. Improving her language skills would allow her to more comfortably travel independently within Costa Rica/Nicaragua/Panama on her next trip down. Minimal gardening required during our sit, but the house and patio plants were attended and all still alive when we returned; and Ann was able to handle the house-routine with no real problems. In short, we really enjoyed getting to know Ann and appreciate the care she took with the house and our pets. We have already agreed to another sitting opportunity for the summer of 2018 - it is a win-win to trade those hot U.S. summers for some cooling mountain rain and 65-75F temps here in the mountains of Costa Rica.
