About this sitter
My partner Jan and I are in our third act in life, affectionately spoken, as we are both in our 60’s. Our roots are in the U.S., from the San Francisco area of California, Arizona and New Mexico. Jan lived in the Washington D.C. area for much of her life. I am originally from Germany but made my home in the U.S., having married there and raised two children who are now grown.
Jan is a musician, a piano teacher, a gong player, and a lover of beauty and creativity. My passion is travel, although I love horses, dogs, cats and the quiet country life just as much. Jan asks me to mention that I am also a great organizer of things – the garage, the kitchen, the bathroom, whatever!
We also practice the Healing Arts on people and animals. Jan is a Sound Healing Practitioner and a Reiki Master. I am a Physical Therapist, Massage Therapist, and Bowenwork Practitioner (www.bowenworktherapy.com)
For most of 2017, Jan and I have been traveling extensively. Our beautiful planet calls us! During our travels we focus on our creative outlets as much as taking in the new areas we visit. Currently we are co-writing a book about Love, Travel and Relationships. Jan loves to sew (always looking for a sewing machine) and creating new designs in Swarovski jewelry art. We both are also avid readers.
Both of us have wide, open hearts and lots of experience caring for animals and people. Jan has a natural talent for interior design and flower gardening. Some of my skills are in the realm of maintenance and construction (handyman). I am fluent in English, German, Spanish, and French.
We both are non-smokers! Follow a pretty clean diet (home cooking) and are emotionally well balanced.
Why they want to house sit
House sitting gives us an opportunity to live in new regions of the world without breaking the bank and be of service at the same time. It's fun to see how other people live and also to explore possible retirement spots.
We always treat your home as if it were ours (clean, tidy and in good repair). Your animals will receive good loving care, your garden and home will be as pristine (or better) as you would have left it with us.

Yes! We have taken care of homes and animals in the Bay Area of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Portugal, France and Germany.
Horses, dogs, cats, chickens have all had a good time whilst in our care. (We talk to them AND listen to them ;-)
What can they bring to the assignment
We bring professionalism, cleanliness, knowledge and experience of animal and home care. If something is in need of repair we usually can take care of it.
We have an inherent love for animals and will treat yours as if they were our own, with lots of TLC (Tender Loving Care). We are specially fond of cats, horses and dogs as they seem to be more present in most house sitting assignments.
In a previous life I owned four horses, two dogs and three cats. My ex-wife and I offered 'Equine Facilitated Learning' a technique taught by Linda Kohanov (www.eponaquest.com)

Terrific sitters
Hans stayed at our home and treated it and our beloved doggie like his own. Lots of easy communication, we came home to a tuned piano, an immaculate house and a very happy dog -- we could tell she was well cared for. Hans and Jan are lovely people. We would have them back as often as they'd have us. Highly recommended sitters!

Excellent House sitter!
Jan watched our home and kitties this past summer for 3 weeks. She came a day early to meet us and learn our household & pet care routines. While we were away, she kept in touch sharing photos and updates. We came to happy kitties and a clean home. Jan is kind, attentive, communicative, and truly loves animals. My kitties loved her. I would absolutely have her be our house sitter again.

A successful sit
Hans took care of our cat for over three weeks. Although Kocimir is very shy and afraid of new people, Hans did very well. The beginnings were difficult, but the cat eventually trusted him completely. The communication prior to the sit and during the stay was effective: Hans was responsive, sending us updates and some pictures of Kocimir. After our arrival back home we were greeted by our happy cat, relaxed to the point that he did not even feel like getting up from his afternoon nap to greet us. During the stay, Hans took care of our apartment. He made minor repairs of his own initiative, for which we are grateful. We recommend Hans to anyone needing a house sitter. Great House Sitters
Hans and Janine spent three weeks at my house and were great sitters. They were very responsive, communicative, responsible with our house. They took great care of our plants, cats, and chickens. They were pleasant, accommodating and easy to deal with. They left the house very clean and even put clean sheets on the bed. They are true animal people. Truly excellent in all respects - great house sitters all around.

Everything went smoothly
Hans and Janine watched our house and cat while we were off the grid in the mountains for 4 days.We couldn't communicate with them, so had to trust that they would be able to take care of everything while we were away. When we returned, the house was just as we left it and the cat was content. We couldn't ask for anything more.

Klaus and Jan, House & Dog Sitters
Klaus and Jan condo sat and dog sat our small "Pom-Chi" for two months. Our condo and dog did well. When we returned from our travels, they picked us up at the airport, and brought us home. They kept our home and dog in great condition - as we left (or better!) Klaus and Jan are good people and good caretakers! We enjoyed the opportunity to know them, and consider them friends. Friendly. Reliable! Smokey skies taken in stride.
Hans & Jan cared for our home and kitty for 3 weeks while we were out of the country. They stuck it out through very poor air quality due to the major California wildfires. We felt bad that they had to live through that and we didn't. They listened carefully to our considerable list of "How and what needs to get done, and how things work". They took in stride my extreme frazzled-ness when they came to take charge of the house as we were leaving for the airport/trip. They took good care of the house, and the kitty really seemed to have gotten to like them. Everything was tidy and clean and the cat was in good spirits when we got back home. They were very good with follow-up. It took us longer than we thought to get back to SFO, and during our delay, they tried to touch bases several times to confirm we got back. They wanted to make sure the cat was looked after if we didn't make it back that day, and it sounds like they would have come back to feed the cat if we were delayed for too long, They are a friendly, responsible couple who we would be happy to have back for future vacations!

Fantastic!
Klaus and Jan responded to my query for a house/pet sitter for a couple of trips that were coming up when my original sitter had to back out. We visited ahead of the dates and felt like it was a good fit. Some highlights of having Klaus and Jan for sitters: *They were very responsive via email, text, and WhatsApp *They asked questions when they needed to know something *They sent me pictures of my four legged children and beautiful rainbows from outside my windows *They spoiled the four legged beasts and the animals fell in love with them *They kept the house in great order so that it was easy to come home and relax after being gone for so long *Klaus is quite handy and fixed some little issues like the mail box being knocked down. *They handled some challenges extremely well, like a very large bull snake getting into the house and being found by one of the cats. *The brought in plants when we had an unexpected early freeze *My dog is a senior and has a few issues. Klaus and Jan took such good care of him. They took him on walks, fed him his favorite foods, and snuggled with him on the couch. He looked absolutely fantastic when I got home. Overall, I am grateful that Klaus and Jan were available to stay at my home while I was traveling. I felt completely relaxed about the care they were giving my pets and my home. I would absolutely ask them to sit again.

Wonderful House Sitters!!!!
Hans and Jan made everything so easy. I was a bit nervous because I was at a retreat and did not have web or phone contact with the world. I returned and I was created by a sweet cat that had found her way into their hearts, a vibrant garden, and tidy house. Thank you, Jan and Hans!

Dear Hans and Janine Thank you so very much for taking good care of my properties in France this winter. For those who wish to know Hans and Janine were care taking my gite business in France during the winter just passed when we were closed for guests. They looked after the main property and 8 others as well as 5 acres of gardens. They were clean and tidy and great in checking things over and reporting back. They also worked hard keeping on top of the garden and with general maintenance jobs. The House was left as it was found and i have no hesitation in recommending them for house sitting duties. Short Notice Angels
Hans and Jan "rescued" us on short notice, as our arranged sitters had to cancel due to medical reasons. They arrived a few days early, which gave us a chance to get to know each other a bit, and for them to familiarize themselves with the place and the animals ( two horses and a cat ). They were great ! They took good care of the horses, gave Coffee, our cat, lots of love, and fixed a few little things around the house. They even took us to the airport, Unfortunately we missed a connection on our return flight and couldn't say good bye to them in person, as they had to leave before we made it home. But the house was clean and tidy, and they had even washed their sheets and towles. If you ever have the chance for them to sit for you you can rest assured that your place will be in good hands.
