Irish-Swiss couple ready to travel

About this sitter

Hi! We live in Ireland with our children have flown the nest. We cubbently have 1 cat and honey bees. I have retired from the Civil Service and my wife has taken a years career break from her role as a Classroom Assistant in a special needs school. We own our own house on a half acre site. We grow vegetables and lots of fruit, making our own jams and juices. I also keep bees and extract our own honey while my wife creates balms from the wax. We have two wood burning stoves for which I cut and split the firewood.We are flexible with sitting and would like sits in areas that lend themselves to walking and touring. We enjoy spending time with animals and getting to know their characters. We have not replaced our dog, hens and cat when they died in expectation that we are going to be doing more housesits.

Why they want to house sit

We enjoy visiting new areas and exploring their surroundings. House sitting with animals provides an extra enjoyment as you get to know them and provide for them. It also gives a focus to your day rain or shine.

Their experience

We have completed a 24 day sit in Toscani Italy with 5 dogs at the start of the sit and 6 at the end. We found it an amazing experience. We were slightly aprehensive beforehand but it could not have been more fun. All the dogs stole a piece of our hearts.
I grew up on a farm and am used to handling animals. We have experience with dogs, cats, hens, ducks, geese, cows, goats, sheep, donkeys, horses, pigs, guinea pigs, hamsters and fish.
Having done one housesit with an allotment we found we really enjoyed having some work to do outdoors each day.

What can they bring to the assignment

We both love working outdoors and have kept our own extensive vegetable and fruit gardens for 37 years. We will be able for most outdoor challenges. We built our own house in 1995 and maintain it to a very high standard. We both drive.
