About this sitter

We are both in our fifth decade, early retired, financially independent, active and healthy non-smokers who enjoy change and adventure through travel and meeting new people. We have been married for 32 years and have two grown children. Kris is a licensed therapist and Mike spent his career in industrial roofing. We enjoy house sits in beautiful locations where the main activity is enjoying anything outdoors. We play alot of pickleball, hike and geocache. We lost our beloved pet of 13 years in 2/2019. Before we commit to a new pet we are letting our hearts heal and will love on your baby like our own. The most important thing you would need to know is that we are VERY careful and conscientious with your home and pets. We treat your home like our own. We are very conscious of our energy use, water use, we recycle (if available). We are very clean and expect the home we are coming to will also be at a reasonable level of cleanliness. If that is not you, we are probably not a good fit. :)
In the 5 sits we have done we have gone "above and beyond" and have done some nice repairs for our hosts including: creating a pool vacuum and restoring a pool to good health, replacing a pump on an irrigation system, repairing a generator, fixing a leaking sink and other minor repairs. Mike enjoys problem solving and having small projects and, if something goes awry, I can't think of anyone better to handle it. Lastly, we understand how reassuring it is to get updates and pictures of your family member while you are away and will send them frequently, if desired.

Why they want to house sit

We want to house-sit to experience new locations, indulge our sense of adventure, and travel economically. We like to travel (a lot) and house sitting stretches our travel budget. We have made new friends via our house-sitting adventures that we wouldn't have made otherwise.

Their experience

Yes, we have 7 successful house-sits under our belt. Most via this site but also 2 from word of mouth. We are home-owners and do our own maintenance on almost everything (well, HE does!) We are problem solvers, know how to handle emergencies in a calm manner and think well on our feet. My husband is truly a miracle worker when it comes to repairs, upkeep, design and building. Because I am a licensed therapist I have full back ground checks and can be found in good standing on my state's licensing board website. We are happy to provide personal references.

What can they bring to the assignment

We are mature, quiet and respectful. We are also non smokers and very healthy.We both like our home very clean and would treat yours like our own. In fact, when staying at AirBnB's, VRBOs and such I tend to leave the place exactly, if not better, than we found it.
As a young person I worked as a veterinary assistant for several years. I have owned: Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, West Highland White Terriers, an English Springer Spaniel and a Rat Terrier. We have owned a myriad of cats over the years but not currently. We are very communicative (to your preference) with owners and enjoy sending pics, updates and videos of your pets so you can rest easy...after all, they are the biggest reason we are all in this. We are BIG on walking and, if you desire, always take the dogs for as long of walks as they can handle.
