About this sitter
It always was a pleasure to have the help of a house caretaker for our own house while we were away. The garden, the dog, cats, horse and sheep were always well taken care of. Now that the children are grown up and no animals around anymore, we are looking forward to return the favour.
We started this in 2018 house-sitting a small farm in the South of France with some deer, a cat and a dog. We enjoyed it so much that we continued house-sitting, and keep looking forward to take care of a new unique place this year.
I'm a pensioned carpenter. It's a small effort for me to help around the house as a handyman. My wife was a Biology-teacher, and still works as a writer, and as a trainer now and again. We love reading, gardening, animals, nature, cooking and our family.
We prefer short sits up to three weeks, but you can ask us for our availability, since we are really flexible.

Their experience
We own a large garden with a pond and over time had lots of animals like horses, sheep, goats, chickens, cats and dogs. We have raised 4 children into healthy adults with whom we went on 4-week holidays in private holiday houses. In 2018 we took care of a small farm in France. In 2019 we did sit houses in Italy, France and Spain, and the owners were very pleased as you can read in the testimonials. In 2021 we housesitted in Italy with 2 cats, in Germany with Donkeys and small animals, and in 2022 in Spain with a cat and chicken.

12 days of worry free holidays
Duco and Jacqueline came to look after our 2 very spoilt dogs, 3 cats and several outside animals. They were so friendly and kept in touch with videos of the dogs having a fun time. This made our holiday so much easier knowing the animals were being well looked after. The dogs were relaxed on our return, and our house was left clean and tidy. They left some beautiful wild flowers and a lovely message. We really hope that they can come and stay again. The weather is not always as wet as it has been!!!

1 month stay of Duco and Jacqueline
Duco and Jacqueline stayed one month in my house and I was really happy to have them here. Max and the chickens were happy also I think. Max, normaly very shy, came very quick and felt well. Duco fixed some broken things and did some arrangements which was very helpful. Both very friendly people. They sent me fotos of Max and I felt unconcerned and my house safe with them. I can recommend them for everyone.

Reliable, responsible and trustworthy house sitters
Duco and Jacqueline housesat for us for about 10 days. On meeting them before our departure we were confident about leaving the house and our two young cats in their hands. As this was in the autumn/winter period, there was no work for them to do in the garden. They kept in regular contact with us while we were away and did a great job all round, and left the house clean and tidy. We and the cats would certainly be happy for them to housesit for us on a future occasion!

Duco and Jacqueline
Duco and Jacqueline were a warm and friendly couple. Having spent 24 hours in their company, we went on our trip knowing that our home would be in safe hands. We returned home to a clean house and a happy cat, and happy house sitters. They watered our growing vegetables and even made us a good supply of elderflower cordial. I can recommend Duco and Jacqueline with confidence.

One month with Jaquelline and Duco
Jaquelline and Duco have spent the month of Mai at us in Piana Secca and have made our garden as nice and tidy as it had never been. Despite the persistent rain they have worked regularly cutting grass and pruning trees, mending our fence, building a roof for our firewood and much more. Jaquelline and Duco are a very nice, respectful couple of friends, who we wish to have at us often again.
