About this sitter
Hello! We are a Canadian couple, retired over 9 years, adventurous, fit and young at heart. We have extensive experience with recent home and pet sitting and enjoy having the opportunity to care for others’ pets at a time when we can’t have our own. We truly appreciate the win-win nature of the exchange, providing the peace of mind that home & pet owners need to have a worry-free vacation, while meeting our own needs for accommodation at times, as well as the nourishment provided by time spent getting to know and caring for pets. We have recently settled down in Comox, BC, Canada, we still care for your pets and home in exchange for accommodation.
We adore pets — I doubt yours will get better care and attention than we will give them. We also live cleanly and will always leave the home well cared for and clean.
Why they want to house sit
House and pet sitting is a beautiful addition to our world-experiencing lives! While we love to move about and see the sights, we also love opportunities to be homebodies and live the stable life of caring for a home and pets for a time. Pet and home sitting facilitates this perfectly. We are both big animal lovers and are quite rejuvenated by our time spent caring for and sharing ‘pet love’. We have also made life long friendships with home owners and their pets through our house sitting experiences, and appreciate the opportunity to stay in touch with how our temporary charges are doing.

What can they bring to the assignment
We are responsible, honest, clean, nonsmoking, physically fit, non partying animal lovers with many 5 star reviews and references, both here and at the Trusted House Sitters site. We love to hike, kayak, cycle, do photography, read, spend time interacting with cats and dogs, and we enjoy a balance of social and solitary time. We are previous home and pet owners and know the responsibility involved in caring for both.
We consider pets family members, to be treated so — your pets’ care will take priority when we are sitting. We have owned homes with a pool and hot tub and are fully conversant in their care. We have done a fair amount of gardening, harvesting, pruning and lawn care.
We are retired, Kath from health/education assistant in a secondary school and Aaron as a school psychologist and UBC professor. We are local to BC in summer and travel most winters to warm countries. We love the process of providing photos, videos and anecdotes to the HO while they are on vacation, of their pets’ daily life (if desired). We are both strong communicators, as was required in both our previous employment in education.
You can trust that your home and pets will be well loved and cared for while you have peace of mind on your vacation. We like to sightsee but, when sitting, we always make the home and pets in our care, top priority.

I could not have found a more caring,responsible,and loving couple . Kath & Aaron sat my 14 year old cat &dog,for 7 weeks . We had a get to know you lunch before I left, and there was an immediate connection . We had excellent communication throughout the sit,with pictures,and emails. Kath took Suki the dog to the vet for her monthly shot,and updated me on other concerns she had. A very responsive and friendly approach at all times. I had no problems leaving my animals with Kath & Aaron for 7 weeks I knew they were well cared for and loved. My neighbors commented about how often they saw Suki being walked,and how happy she was. The apartment Was spotless when I returned. Again we shared a lunch, and I was updated on all the fun and pleasures they had shared ,while staying in the apartment with Suki ,& Polly. Amazingly Kath had managed to stop the dogs annoying barking problem Bravo! An animal loving couple who without reservations I would recommend ,most highly.

The very best sort of sitters
Kath and Aaron were the very best sort of pet sitters: reliable, caring, detail-oriented, friendly and good-humoured. We did not have the pleasure of meeting them in person, but an online conversation was enough to assure us that we could trust and rely on them. Their helpful reports during our week away showed clearly that they had a gentle touch with the cats, who evidently warmed to them immediately. Kath and Aaron left our home superbly neat and tidy. Helpfully, they left us a handwritten log of feedings and other tasks - including plant care, indoors and outdoors - that they willingly undertook. We would recommend them enthusiastically to anyone needing caring, compassionate sitters.

Kath took such great care of my Travis. I could relax and enjoy my time away knowing that he was in good hands and getting lots of love. Kath was flexible. When I was contacted shortly before the sit to foster more cats, Kath was open to also caring for them in my absence. So now she had 3 cats to care for! She sent lots of updates which made me feel at ease. And my home was absolutely spotless when I came back. I would 1000% recommend Kath :)

A pleasure
It was a pleasure for us, and a treat for our 22-year-old cat Beanie to have Aaron and Kath looking after things while we were away for a week. We returned to find a tidy home and a happy cat. Aaron bonded with Beanie so easily, we’re not even sure Beanie noticed our absence! Aaron sent just enough messages to put our minds at ease, knowing things were as they should be. Aaron and Kath were great during the planning stages, being flexible and accommodating as dates were adjusted. We wouldn’t hesitate to ask Aaron and Kath to return the next time we travel.

5 star across the board
5 star across the board. Right from first contact Kath and Aaron were great with communication. For the sit it was Aaron and his son who was visiting from Spain. Communication during the sit was great. I let Aaron know in advance I generally have some extra anxiety the day after we leave so he made sure to check in and set my mind at ease. Came home to a clean house including the bedding already in the dryer which was really nice to come back to. It was obvious the dogs became attached to him during the week and a half we were gone. We wouldn't hesitate to have Aaron and Kath sit for us again. Definitely recommend!

Great house sitters
Kath and Aaron are great house sitters. We’ve known them for years & had them take care of our home/garden/acreage on SaltSpring. This was a more leisurely sit here in the city of Victoria. They are wonderful people and dear friends to our pets. We came back to an extra-clean home and some fancy bagels to try. Our exotic bonsai trees and forest look happy and the flowers have filled in nicely. Simply put, you cannot go wrong if your fortunate enough to have them sit for you.

Lovely & inspiring
So so happy Kath and Aaron were able to stay with our kitty, Ebi. Ebi is a sensitive soul and they took such amazing care of her, bringing her out of her shell quickly. And how lovely to return to such a clean place! We were gone to Japan for the month of May, 2023 and arranged through House Sitters, for Kath and Aaron to stay in our place and watch Poppy. While we were away, Kath and Aaron sent regular updates with photos of Poppy. Upon our return, the house was clean and tidy and Kath emailed of list of daily “happenings” while we were away. Poppy has clearly been well cared for and loved. She even had a bath! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kath and Aaron and am hoping we have dates that coincide in the future.

Welcome back
To start with we have to say that our sit is not an easy one. We live on a big property in the jungle, close to the ocean and quite remote. We have 2 dogs who are used to go on 2 walks a day and 2 cats. This is at the same time very beautiful but also means quite a bit of work. Having Kath and Aaron stay at our house and take care of our pets and home made us enjoy our vacation to the fullest as we knew everything was under control at home. We got regular updates and pictures of our pets. If something unusual came up we could easily communicate with them and they were able to manage everything in a very professional and trustworthy way. The sit was during the end of a very hot dry season that just wouldn't end. As water has to be used carefully, watering the gras and plants was limited. They checked with us about how to deal with this situation and did everything right. Kath and Aaron also had to drive our cleaning lady and gardener. Both of them and our neighbours and friends were full of praise about what kind people Kath and Aaron are. We came home to happy pets, a clean home and pool and a garden that survived a period of extreme heat and a long dry season. Having Kath and Aaron stay with us was one of our very best housesitter experiences. Our pets were happy to see us but just as sad to see Kath and Aaron leave. I am sure they had a wonderful time and got a lot of attention. Consider yourself lucky if Kath and Aaron accept your sit. We would be happy to welcome them again at our home.

Unfortunately this pet sit turned into house sit, as we lost our beloved Brassy a week before Kath and Arron were scheduled to care for her. We had every confidence that they were up to the responsibility of an older dog with some health issues. There were still some household tasks ie, watering plants, fixing lunch for and transporting our housekeeper, keeping the birds, both hummingbirds and others, happy with food. Kath asked if there was anything specific that we wanted reports on, and without the care of our Brassy, we had no need for updates. Although, they did let us know about trees that had fallen because of winds, which our landlord took care of. The house was in excellent condition when we got home and was obvious they had taken the time to clean for our return. Kath made sure to leave us a note on when plants had been watered so we could keep on schedule. I specifically appreciated them leaving my a papaya and bananas for bird feeding! They are a delightful couple and I have complete faith that they would handle any responsibilities they were given.

Perfect House Sitters
Great couple and wonderful people! Kath and Aaron stayed on our house in Coronado Panama for 3 weeks. This was the first time we have used a house-sitting site and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Aaron took great care of the pool which was a major concern for me as it is very hard to correct a problem with water quality. The house and grounds were immaculate upon our return and our fish didn’t have any signs of PTSD, Cindy speaks to him a lot and apparently so did Kath. We would very much love to have them back for our next trip and would highly recommend them for any house-sitting assignments for other people. You can trust them
It was a Pleasure to have Aaron and Kath watch my house and pets. They were very professional and able to handle any small issues with my house while sitting at it out in the country away from town. They took such great care of my pets that I believe the pets miss them. I would have no hesitation at all recommending them for a house sit. Kath and Aaron were amazing house sitters! We have a one year old Rottweiler with a mind of her own, and they did a great job with her. Did an amazing job

Wonderful adventurers
After meeting Kath and Aaron during our first interview and then in person run through, I knew I had made just the right choice for our pets needs. There was just the right amount of communication while we were away per our discussions and when we found ourselves in a bind through a missed flight, they were able to make adjustments to go back to the house in the morning to tend to the pets until our rebooked arrival time. It was a most stressful time for us that they helped us breathe a sigh of relief. Also a delightful ‘summary’ document was left filled with a wonderful account complete with pictures of their time here and notes that were proof of their diligence. We would not hesitate to have Kath and Aaron pet sit for us again! They are wonderful adventurers and we’re just a pleasure.
