About this sitter
I consider myself practical, dependable and respectful of others and their property. Having been a homeowner for most of my life I am well aware of the responsibilities and maintenance involved. I have also owned cats, dogs, rabbits, gerbils and fish in the past. Many of these were rescue animals and as a result I have experience of handling animals with behavioural issues. I lost my elderly dog Basil to heart disease and am aware just how much pets are part of the family and precious companions. I am vegan, a non-smoker and teetotal. I am a keen runner, cyclist and practice yoga. I have my own car and bicycle. My aim is to live a simple quiet (largely people-free) life!
I must emphasise that any sits further afield from mainland Europe would have to be longer-term, i.e. over a month in duration. Further to this I don't feel comfortable looking after more than 2 dogs at a time, am not a fan of extendable leads or wholly untrained / unruly dogs (down to owner's apathy/inertia - not the animal's fault!), cats that hunt and bring in their prey. Not whingeing just personal preferences. I believe that more often than not it is the owners that need training more than their pets!!!
Why they want to house sit
I would like to provide peace of mind to home and pet owners whilst they are away from their property and pets. I am both pragmatic and reliable having been a homeowner for the majority of my adult life and so am fully aware of the responsibilities that looking after a house entails. I myself have previously experienced angst when leaving my property empty and hope to relieve others of that worry. Personally I would always prefer to leave my pets in the care of pet-sitters rather than use kennels/catteries. I freely admit to preferring the company of animals to most humans, so I would certainly cherish spending time with your pets.
Their experience
I came to house-sitting later in life and have now embraced it as a lifestyle choice. I am also involved in voluntary work exchange programs such as WorkAway etc. Placements more recently have been 'unofficial' via word of mouth recommendations and I can provide contact details should that be necessary. I must stress that I AVOID ALL SOCIAL MEDIA therefore e-mail, text, phone or face to face contact only would be available before, during or after any assignment. No WhatsApp, not on my old Nokia phone!!!I have learnt to use Microsoft Teams/Zoom etc!
What can they bring to the assignment
An assurance to the house-owner that I will conscientiously care for their home and pets whilst they are away. I also love ironing, decorating, cleaning, mowing lawns and cutting hedges so if that's on the agenda even better!

A brilliant pet sitter

Absolutely brilliant
This is the second time we have had Jackie over to look after our pets. She is absolutely brilliant with them and they settled really quickly when se first arrived. She took on the challenge of giving the horses their medication every day and dealing with the thoroughfare that comes with our house. I could not recommend her more. We felt that the dogs, horses, fish and house in general were in safe hands with her throughout. To be honest, the dogs were a little lost after she left which confirms that she must have been brilliant with them. Trust me when I say that if she comes up in your invite, accept her and your pets will be well looked after.

Jackie was great
Jackie was great. She was very interested in our hens and they responded very well to her. Particularly Babe, and she is very fearful of humans. Jackie looked after our plants really well too. Jackie is a great person, down to earth and very friendly. We felt like Jackie was our friend and we felt sad when she left. Jackie also left our apartment clean and tidy Would definitely recommend Jackie to anyone and we hope we will see her again.

Just amazing
Wow Jackie was just amazing! Right from the start I could see Jackie talking to the animals in such a sweet way, they all warmed to her immediately. Jackie arrived the day before, on time, as planned, so I could introduce her to everyone and show her all their quirks and habits etc. She was very reliable in her communication pre and during the sit. She listened carefully to all instructions, and I didn’t need to repeat anything, she got it all straight away and just cracked on. I was last minute packing and cleaning etc just before leaving, which I think Jackie found a little unsettling, but as soon as I had gone, I know that she brought tranquility and calm back to the place, which was greatly appreciated! She’s very self sufficient, and even brought her own bedding and washing products so as not to impact the environment. Although she drives, avoided using the car and walked everywhere, usually taking foxy with her. She’s very environmentally conscious. Jackie doesn’t use a smartphone, and I was a little out of my comfort zone knowing that I wouldn’t receive any photos or anything through WhatsApp. What I received was actually far better, she messaged me through the XXXXX regularly, with descriptive messages which made me smile as I knew from her observations that all was well, and this put me at ease. Bob had a previous injury to his paw that caused some further problems during the sit, and Jackie kept me informed and even bathed the wound in salt, treating it regularly, and gaining his trust so she could help him. She really is very observant and caring. When I arrived home, the house was spotless, I’d never seen it so clean. She had also maintained the garden, dead heading roses, and pulling up weeds whilst I was away, which was also very much appreciated. I would not hesitate to recommend Jackie to look after your pets and home. She’s a wonderful individual. Self sufficient. Clean and tidy. Very caring and loving with the animals. She even groomed the dogs so well I’d never seen them looking so well looked after! I know Jackie is looking for longer sits now instead of moving around so much, I even asked her to stay again immediately, but she was already booked out for other sits! She is in high demand for a good reason! You are lucky if you have Jackie as a sitter she is one in a million! Thanks Jackie you are welcome anytime to sit again or just visit!

Highly recommend
Jackie is a lovely person, very easy to talk to. She was very organised and flexible with the arrival and departure day and time. She sent us daily updates about the cats, which was super appreciated. We arrived to a super clean and tidy house and 5 calm and well taken care cats which seemed to not have missed us at all 😂 We highly recommend her and we hope to have her back at home in future.

Great housesitter!
Jackie takes her job as housesitter seriously and even came to see us well before the requested time, when she was nearby, to familiarize herself with our setup. True to her word, she arrived well before I left and made sure she knew the routines. I was happy to leave our menagerie in her capable hands and she informed me throughout her stay how things were going. In fact, I loved her humorous little comments about the animals. They made me laugh out loud. When I came back, the house was spotless and it was obvious that the animals had a great time with her and loved having her around. She paid special attention to our new, 'disabled' kitten, which I had been worried about. Jackie is a lovely lady and a great housesitter!

Jackie arrived the day before I left for my holidays, as requested, so that I could show her around and she could get to know my dogs. She emailed me whilst I was away to let me know everything was fine. The house was spotless when I returned and the dogs and chickens had been well looked after.

I can not recommend Jackie highly enough. Jackie arrived a few days before we left so she could familiarise herself with our 5 cats and house. My cats took to her instantly, so I knew all would be good and we would be able to relax while away. Jackie kept in touch throughout our holiday, sending reports of our cats. Our cats loved Jackie and the house was immaculate upon our return. Jackie had worked very hard water our garden, which is no mean feet in the heat of August in Spain. She even managed to revive several plants that I thought wouldn’t survive the August heat. I would invite Jackie back to our home any time. Thank you Jackie, my cats miss you. So do we. Complete peace of mind
We booked Jackie to look after our 2 rescue lurchers and pond fish prior to our holiday in October. Jackie arrived the day before we went away, as requested, to familiarise herself with the dogs routines and also to accompany us on a couple of walks with them so Brooke and Morris could get to know her. Jackie was advised that one of our dogs was very wary of new people due to previous abuse. She was very patient with Brooke having owned rescue dogs herself and we knew Morris our other dog would be fine. Throughout our holiday she kept us up to date with how the dogs were and this provided us with the peace of mind to relax without stressing about how they were all coping together. When we returned Brooke who was quite fearful of Jackie initially was fast asleep on the settee with her head on Jackie's lap!! The dogs were definitely well looked after and the house was immaculate - even the fish looked happy!! We would have no hesitation in booking Jackie again and would recommend her services to anyone looking for someone patient, caring and willing to go the extra mile!!

Jackie is totally reliable: She turned up on time. My cat and dog were looked after really well. My cat was groomed and Maisie was walked (I think she looked a little bit trimmer)! The house was clean and tidy. I have total confidence in recommending her to look after your pets and house. I didn't ask Jackie to do anything in the garden, but I'm sure she would have done had it been needed. She had vacuumed, dusted and cleaned the floors.

Pet/House sitter needed from 7 July 2020 to 16 July 2020
Jackie is an excellent house sitter and you are unlikely to find anyone better or more obliging. We were supposed to go to Santorini for my daughter's 30th birthday, but due to Covid and the Greek Government we couldn't go on our initial dates and moved them twice, ultimately remaining in the UK for a holiday and taking our dog with us (which was a disappointment to Jackie). She agreed to all our amendments without question and was left to look after our two cats, who loved her & the attention she gave them. She is punctual, organised, self sufficient and absolutely loves animals and they love her. She kept our home immaculate and also watered our garden & plants. She is really friendly and kept in touch using e-mail & text. We are now going to Santorini in August and are lucky that Jackie has agreed to come back again to look after our dog and 2 cats and my daughter's puppy. She is a treasure.
