We are two recent retirees who enjoy travel, the outdoors in all its forms, and are recently returned home from a 13-month "Vagabond." We live in the southwest mountains of New Mexico. We are competent, dependable, flexible, low-key, experienced with "strangers" in our home and as being "strangers" in other peoples homes due to our involvement with Couchsurfing.org and our experience as "WWOOFers" in past years. One of us is fluent in Spanish.
We are looking for opportunities to visit and live in other areas of the United States and/or the world that will fit our budget. House sitting is one way to do that. While our "vagabond year" ended in July 2020, our desire and freedom to wander and learn will continue all our life.
We have two "official" house/pet sitting experiences, and we have participated with the World Wide Organization of Organic Farming (WWOOF ... I think?) .. farm stays where we exchanged 4 hrs. of labor each day in exchange for room and board. This was in New Zealand around 20 yrs ago. We "WWOOFed" in NZ for almost a year. We also are members of Couchsurfing.org (CS.) We have primarily hosted travelers looking for a way to enjoy a more in-depth experience in a region by staying with local CS Hosts. We do not charge. The experience, the visiting, the laughter and sharing is the payment. We have ourselves been "Couchsurfers" (CSers) through this organization. During our vagabond year, and now due to the Covid precautions, we put our CS profile on hold, but I do need to get online, update it, and perhaps open up to CSers willing to take the extra step with Covid precautions.
We are dog owners of 40 years, recently empty-nested of animals when our Mel-dog died at the age of 13. Both of our official MindMyHouse housesit experiences involved dog care.
Dependability; competence; organizational ability; carpentry ability; humor; experience; wisdom; low-key manner; low-key lifestyle; able to deal with unexpected events and outcomes; a pretty fair level of Spanish language fluency; flexibility; freedom to travel; and more.

Testimonials
Scottsdale housesit
Mary and Rich were a dream to work with. Very responsive, quick to communicate in a timely manner. They stepped in when Coronavirus travel issues prevented a Housesitter from being able to complete the assignment and we are so thankful. The dogs received lots of walks and pets and even the neighbor commented what a great job they did. Cat was happy too. House was tidy and clean on our arrival home and we would be happy to welcome them back.

Mary & Rich with Shelby
Mary & Rich came to dog sit Shelby (and house sit) for 3 weeks in October/November, 2019 while my partner and I went on a trip to Thailand. They arrived a couple of days before we left as we asked which was great as we wanted Shelby and them to get comfortable together :) They stayed in touch while we were away and the house was nice and clean when we returned. Shelby visited them in their room while I was home which led me to believe that she liked them :) Mary & Rich we’re clean and respectful. I would have them come and sit for us anytime. Pascale & Joe
