About this sitter
I love to travel and enjoy the experiences that traveling on a budget give me. I love nature and to hike and bike so I always try to incorporate those into my travels. I am a Speech Language Pathologist at a public school so I have the summers off. I am married but, being in the construction business, my husband doesn't get much vacation time in the summer, so I tend to travel on my own.
Why they want to house sit
Housesitting is a way to travel that allows a person to be somewhere and experience the place as someone who really lives there, not just someone passing through. I like to get a true sense of a place when I travel and not just hit the typical tourist highlights.
Their experience
I have house-, cat-, dog- sat for several friends and family and have some references from them. I have done short stints and multiple-month stints.
What can they bring to the assignment
I am very conscientious about other people's homes and particularly their pets since they are members of the family. I am responsible, flexible, and caring. I have been a devoted pet owner in the past but do not currently have any pets so I look forward to some pet time!

Excellent cat and chicken carer
We were so lucky that Shannon was willing to take care of our cats and chickens while we were on a 10 day holiday abroad. Our three cats and seven chickens were very well looked after. One of our elderly chickens was suffering from a hock infection while we were away, and Shannon was willing and able to feed her medicine every day, for which we are extra grateful. We received photos and updates on how everybody was doing every day, and felt confident that all our animals were completely safe in her care. Shannon also watered plants in our garden and greenhouse. When we came home, the house was cleaner than when we left, which was an extra bonus. It was so nice to meet Shannon, and she has our warmest recommendations.

Shannon Hurley house sit in Hungerford
We had some great communication with Shannon before the arranged sit, and also had a FaceTime chat. So we felt that we really got to know her very well beforehand. This was really reassuring as we didn't get a chance to meet Shannon before the sit. Shannon let us know the minute she arrived at our house (as we were on the way to the airport) and we knew our pets were in good hands. We had regular updates and photo's which we loved, especially knowing that our pets were having such a good time. I don't think Shannon could sit down without having a dog or a cat on her!!! The house was immaculate when we got home and everything was as it should be. Shannon was very flexible too, as we asked if she wouldn't mind looking after our daughter's cat, that was dropped off in the morning on the day she was leaving. Great house sitter
Shannon is a lovely person. She was able to arrive a day before we left to go through the cats requirements. The cats took to her straight away. Communication was great before and during the stay. The house and cats were in ship shape on our return. Shannon also took great pleasure in exploring the surrounding area. Great all round! Would absolutely recommend her as a sitter.

A nice house sitter
Shannon took care of the cats and looked after the house with attention, as well as the garden. Is was easy to communicate, although we could not meet because I was already absent when she arrived. I recommand her for others people who should look for a house sitter.

Attentive, respectful, and fun-loving sitter
Shannon made a great first impression both in the app and in person and it only improved from there. It was clear that she was genuinely enthusiastic about pet-sitting and travelling from start to finish, and we're grateful she was able to make the best of a half-week visit while giving us complete peace of mind for our first trip since the start of current events. Our pets are happy and healthy, the house is actually in better shape than we'd left it, and all requests were met and more. Would definitely recommend for house/pet sitting and would be glad to have a repeat if the opportunity presents itself. Thanks Shannon!
