Hello!
My name is Holly and I'm a British freelance literary translator living in Paris.
I've been pet sitting for many years now and love having the opportunity to be around animals while exploring new places and meeting new people.
Why they want to house sit
I've always had animals (cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, fish) but since moving to the city, unfortunately I don't have the space to have my own.
Living in Paris can be hectic so I'd really like to get back to nature for some peace and quiet or explore new cities.
Their experience
I've had several experiences with house and pet sitting in both France and the UK and am more than happy to provide references.
What can they bring to the assignment
- Flexible: As a freelancer, I can be very flexible on dates!
- Experienced: I have many years of experience with house-sitting assignments and can provide references.
- Handy to have around: Before working as a translator I worked for 10+ years in various childcare positions that involved a certain level of cleaning and house maintenance.
- Green thumbs: As I live in a flat in the city, I'm very keen to get out and make myself useful in the garden, tending to plants and vegetables, mowing grass, getting stuck into outdoor maintenance projects, etc.
- Caring: I'm motivated by a genuine love for nature and animals. I'm also vegan.
- Mobile: I have a UK/EU driver's licence.
- Multilingual: I speak English, French, German and Spanish so I feel confident asking locals for help in the event that any issues come up during my stay.

Holly and Raphael were excellent sitters. They cared for our house and cat, and kept in touch regularly. We came home to a clean and tidy house and everything was as we would have wished for. They had to leave a few hours before we came home, but had left us a welcome gift of wine and nibbles. Lovely! Would recommend.

Lovely house sitters who looked after my cats
Holly and Raphael cared for our three cats and our house in Normandy while we had to go back to the UK for a while. I can highly recommend them and I know that my cats were very well looked after. The cats were very happy and had lots of lapsitting sessions and grooming from Holly. They were happy to take one of my cats to the vet when an old skin issue flared up and dealt with it without hesitation. They are a lovely, professional couple and they are very trustworthy, thoughtful and reliable. They are easy to get along with and good company. I had frequent updates and photos of my cats and felt our house was in good hands. They both have driving licences and it was very useful that they could use our little car to get around as we are in the countryside. The house was very tidy and clean when we got back : I was sure it was tidier than when we left ! Holly and Raphael even left us a bottle of wine and some snacks which was a very welcome and nice touch after arriving back home after a long drive. They are about to come back to us for the 3rd time - which is maybe the best recommendation: I think they are wonderful.

Fabulous house-sitters!
We were delighted that Holly and Raphael agreed to look after our house and animals at short notice, after the circumstances of our planned sitters changed, enabling us to get away on holiday as planned and we were not disappointed. We had good communication with them before they arrived which gave us reassurance and some time together before we left. Holly was great at keeping in touch with us, and took time to get to know our animals; this meant that she noticed that one of our donkeys was unwell and took appropriate action, even though she'd not cared for donkeys before. She sought our advice first before contacting the vet and was very reassuring to us that everything was under control after the vets visit. We felt at all times that our house and animals were in capable hands which enabled us to relax. We were treated to a lovely homemade tajine on our return - probably one of the best we've tasted. Our house was as clean and tidy as we had left it, and we hope that Holly and Raphael enjoyed their stay here. We would have no hesitation in inviting them back to house sit for us in the future if they wanted to.
