Very healthy, active, and industrious couple. We thrive in routine. We enjoy working outside, walking the dogs as often as needed, and a full day of activities at home on property. Keeping the floors clean is a must for us—We never retire for the night without a clean & tidy kitchen and a happy satisfied disposition from a full day of work and activity. Our children have grown and we are now both able to work from home, so house sitting for us is an opportunity to live and learn about new and interesting locations and care for animals in a therapeutic way (pet grooming, cuddles, communication, and activities). The therapy is as much for us as it is for the animals. This is the first year of our lives that we do not have our own rescued animals to care for... we miss it and look forward to the animal interaction.
Originally, we discovered house sitting when we were planning travel to CostaRica to research sustainable developments. We wanted to experience different parts of that country for 2-3 months at a time. We had set up two great homes to care for via this site... Then the World shut down. We have yet to make it to CR. However, in preparation for such a trip, we leased-out our two homes, sold our furniture and excess belongings, and ended up housesitting in the US. First, a beautiful modern home in New Albany, Ohio and then 2,500 square foot custom log cabin in Central Utah. The Utah cabin required much attention, daily repair and maintenance projects. Every day, on the property, was an adventure. From log staining, to rock wall building, to the nitty-gritty of filling water tanks. This beautiful three story cabin had everything for our comfort and kept us very busy. Both home owners are happy to chat via email or phone to share their experience with us as caretakers. We have had the privilege to care for dogs, cats, horses, goats, pigs, and more (the fun part of house sitting).
We are experienced at owning homes and maintaining our properties, one of which is a 3 acre, fully landscaped farm house. We had two fantastic experiences housesitting this summer (July-September 2020), and then we flew to Hawaii! We cherish this land and have traveled here for vacation every year, for 8 years (Kauai, Maui, and now Kona). We are retired athletes. We practice yoga, meditation, and a plant-based diet. We have everything that makes us happy... A simple life, with minimal “stuff”, together. As long as we are together, we are home, so caring for your home and pets is a real joy for us!
We have a vast array of skills, from gardening to carpentry. We can manage basic plumbing repairs and some masonry work. One thing is certain, we would never tackle a project over our heads, nor would we embark on a new project without extensive communication with the home owners. We have a high standard of living wherever we are. We tidy and make our bed while on vacation. It just feels good!
We love the simple adventure of living in a new place, experiencing a new horizon, learning new things about the local area, and creating a trusting relationship with a unique and interesting family of animals. We are conversational people and tend to make friends wherever we go. We find friendly conversations in the neighborhood or farmers market, energizing. Yet, we prefer to be at home together, alone, and in bed by 7:30 or 8:00. We wake at sunrise daily. We work-out/exercise at home, cook at home, walk in the neighborhood from home, and work on our respective businesses from home. When Noelle’s business shifted to an on-line model, she and I wrote a book together. You can find it on Amazon.

Our pets almost didn't want us to come back, lol. They took excellent care of our pets, probably better than we do ;-). Lots of hikes with our dog and day trips that she loved. Our parrot made a new best friend and got the care he needs from fun conversations to birdie massages. They took great care of our home and even gave our dog a bath after a fun day in the mountains. We loved the pics they sent and videos of our pets enjoy time away from us! We would highly recommend them to anyone!
James and Noelle are super people. They never quite made it for the sit, as I was all over the map about my plans, changing them once and then cancelling, but throughout the process they were super understanding, very accessible, always responsive and just good kind people. My remarks can't extend to how they performed as sitters, but I have no doubt they have the skills needed to care for a home in an exceptional way. I will definitely have them sit someday, as I'm sure they would take as good care of my home and dog as they did of the relationship we were able to build during our communications. I wish them the best and hope they can come some day.
Noelle and James are friendly, competent, enthusiastic, energetic, caring, and detail-oriented. After our orientation together, I left in early June feeling very confident leaving my home, gardens, four goats and a cat in their care. They were unfazed by power outages, trees in the road, snakes in the garden, and the ups and downs of shaky internet signals. They communicated with me regularly, and when I returned in August, my house was beautifully clean and the gardens well tended and thriving. My four goats and cat looked better than ever, having received much more attention than they get from me. There are no easy instructions for handling our homeplace, so it is always a challenge to find housesitters who are willing to be observant, creative, problem-solving, able to handle heat and humidity while working outside, and manage the issues that arise with extreme weather events. They are very attuned to the nuances of the natural world and value interacting with and learning from it-- which was a huge plus in the Virginia summer jungle. Noelle and James are a generous couple who will take care of everything and enjoy doing so. This is the 7th summer I've had housesitters spending upwards of 2 months at my home, and so I know how fortunate I am to have met them. I recommend them highly.
